Increasing Amphetamine blood levels

Staind

New member
My girlfriend recently got a prescription of Adderall XR (amphetamine and dextroamphetamine) so I was thinking of ways to increase its blood levels and effectiveness.

From my research I have found the following would be particularly helpful, and would like to know which (if any) are redundant or unnecessary.

1. Grapefuit (fruit or juice?)

2. Magnesium Hydroxide

3. Baking Soda (potassium citrate instead?)

Based on what I have read so far I suspect magnesium hydroxide and baking soda would be overkill, as one or the other should be enough. You have the baking soda to reduce acidity in the stomach and increase the absorbtion in that stage, and then you have the grapefruit blocking the first-pass metabolism. It seems the grapefruit would be the most significant of the two, but it makes sense the effects would be very cumulative.

From: http://www.holistic-online.com/Herb...nteractions-what-is-present-in-grapefruit.htm

Dr. David Bailey and Associates at the University of Western Ontario, Canada showed that grapefruit juice acts by blocking (down regulating) the activity (expression) of cytochrome P450 3A4 isoenzyme in the intestinal wall, thereby preventing the presystemic "first-pass" oxidative metabolism (breakdown) for a wide variety of drugs. Grapefruit juice did not significantly block cytochrome P-450 3A4 isozymes in the liver hepatocytes. The net result of blocking this presystemic "first-pass" metabolic pathway, is the potential for a marked increase in the plasma concentration of the drug, often to the point of toxicity.

Another magnesium-amphetamine interaction involves supplements of magnesium hydroxide, which are known to cause retention of amphetamines in the body.2 This could theoretically result in increased blood levels of these drugs.
