In Seattle at Microsoft Thread

Oh dang. I didn't know they shipped you out that quickly.

While you are there: I have a list of source code I would like you to obtain for me.

Let's talk.

How is it?

When you come back to my warm bussom?

So at Redmond. Staying in Kirkland for the next 4 or 5 months. Definately the most different culture I have ever seen at a company. Casual dress is an understatement. I've seen shorts, flip flops, mow hawks, shirts with no sleves, no shoes in some cases. The campus is beautiful. The lodge is one of the campus cafeterias and it is amazing. Waterfalls, koy ponds, japanese maples everywhere. Gormet food for a good price too.

There also isn't an old person in the whole place. I think I am one of the oldest persons I've seen. Most of the guys are geeks. And lots of hot chicks. As a matter of fact I met one that we were supposed to go out with on Thrusday, last week but had to work late. I will get pics next week.

Got the company to pay for my golds memebership while I am there. Love the expense account. Seattle is freaking beautiful. Didn't get over 70 the whole time I was there.

The teams we are working with are extreame High Performance. They burn it out. A lot of very intelligent people. I am going to learn a lot but I am a bit slower then they are. I am going to have to rely on my people skills to get me through this one and stay sharp.

Seattle sucks and the women's are stuck up bitches. :theshadow

Also, it drizzles all winter long.

Take this from someone that knows.
The drizzling thing sucks, but besides that its pretty cool up here. Turd, you should get out and see some nature while you're here. You see that big ass mountain to the south? Head that way about 45 minutes and that's where I live.

Rainer is awesome. Incredible poplar and pine trees everywhere. I havent ventured out too far yet. More on the culture at MS. I have see a lot of people bring in kids to work. babies to toddlers. even one lady breast feeding in the lodge. They have a cass system with the badging. Blue badeges are employees, orange badges are contractors. The orange badges out number the blues 3-1. I would say the majority of the people where I am are contractors. A lot of diversity. Open boy gayness and lesbians. JH1 would fit in well. A lot of people ride bikes to work as the traffic is probably the worst i've seen.

It is also very much so a matirx organization. Very hard to get things done becuase so many levels exist and one hand dosen't know the other. I am working on a supply chain application (microsoft AX or course) that will automate asset purchasing and integrate with two key vendors for quaterly bulk buys to start. I have never seen AX, so it was a challange to get to know that in a week. Hitting the ground running was an understatment.

The mountains are awesome. I do notice a lot of... I don't want to say stuck upid ness but that is how it comes off. I always say hi to people even if I don't know them and it is dishearting here. Only the asian's even reply. Maybe that is the introverted dork culture. Maybe not. At any rate it takes people by surprise. All except for the one girl I met.

They are also very limited on space. It is nothing for 3-4 people to work in a 12x12 office.

Yeah, the traffic fucking sucks up here. I could earn a lot more if I wanted to work in the seattle area, but it would add like 2hrs to my drive every day. Fuck that!
Gheyness is pretty open in some places, but there's plenty of bigots if you venture out.
As far as being stuck up, I think thats they way it is in the non south. Anywhere in the north, people just dont acknowledge each other.

Yeah that is totally the way it is in NY when I was there. Lil different than what I'm used to.

Not all women's in Seattle are stuck up bitches, but there is a significantly higher percentage than most other places.

Btw, the contractor's at Microsoft make more money than the employee's besides upper management who make excellent money.

People can dress however casual they want and they got awesome food bars/pop machines etc because due to the high pace, demanding corporate over the shoulder pep talk rallying tps report checking upper management the employee's would go nuts without it.

Take this from one who knows. :theshadow

Best invention, ever.

around here like mentioned noone even looks at each other...but on very rare occasion I will run by a person who like you will say "hello" out of nowhere...aslong as they dont have a "twinkle" in their eye I will always smile and say hello. its just manners...sad alot of people dont have them.
