I was on the Italian thread and noticed there were a lot of Greeks on there.....and I got a few emails from other pple too (prolly the anabolic board)......so post up and lemme know about you......born here? speak the language? follow customs? all that shit, I wanna know.

Hey bitch, CZECH the title of this thread......lol. You fluent in the language? Czechs are all drunkards, no?

Yassou Fille,

Greek here, living in Sydney Australia. Both parents Greek, from Ipeiros. I follow the culture, speak Greek fluently. Have only been to Greece, twice, but am thinking strongly about going to work there. Only problem is getting drafted into the army.

Im not greek.
However, Id still like to be a part of this thread.

I'm half Greek, dad jumped off the boat in NY back in the early 60's. Mom is German, Irish and Dutch. I can under stand most of what people say, but I have a very hard time trying to answer. I have been there maybe 8 times?? Parents spend about 6 months a year there. They have a Penthouse in Athens, 2 investment properties in Athens also. They are just started construction on a new house in Andros that should be complete by this time next year. Dad is the only one here from his family so that is one reaason why they are there so much. My wife and I will be there for the 2004 Olympic games. There house is only a few blocks from Olympic Village. Last time is was there was about 15 years ago. They tell me it has changed alot???

ela malakes,

elinas etho,

Yes I speak greek fluently.

Parents are from athens.

Yes we follow the customs, sometimes, like our easter was a couple of weeks later then the "american" easter.

I lived there for a couple of years, and moved back when i was in 6th grade.

Im 18 now.

I really wanna go back next year, and see all my family.

Both my parents are greek. I know a bit of the language, but not that well. I'm into the greek-american culture though. My cousins and my grandparents live in sparti, and athens.....

I'm actually going to be leaving for greece next week :)

:FRlol:

Me, my cousin, and a couple buddies are goin in the summer of '03.....we're goin on an island hopping tour through Santorini, Paros, and Mykonos.........3 islands 14 days, I'm so fuckin amped, we're gonna a have a fuckin blast, WOOOOOOO! Look up those islands through Google and tell me yer not jealous. It's a really cheap trip to.

There are probably more Greeks here in this part of Florida than in Greece. I have been exposed to the culture the last 10 years and it is cool as fuck. The food kicks ass too !

Both parents are Greek and born in Athens. We used to follow Greek customs when I was little but that has faded. I have been to Greece 3 times, understand all, speak some-what fluent. If I spend a week over there I will be speaking with no probs.

Greeks know how to party, no doubt about that!

I may not be as fluent as I'd like to be but I can still speak it. If I end up marrying someone who isn't Greek, she will go to Greek school with my kids, so they both can learn the language. I didn't appreciate the language, customs, heritage and such when I was younger, but it won't cease with my future family.

Greeks are bloody weird.

And yes, I've been there. To Athens specifically.

They are pretty violent in the home country let me
tell you.

SPECIALLY Panathanaikos supporters. They're a step BEYOND
insane.

I saw one greek SOB run into a crowd of the oppsoitions supporters yielding a club.......there were 10-15 of them,
and only him.

Now, that nuts.

Turks are the same.

In the US, greeks seem fine.

I am going to the old country in a week for a Vacay. Can any of you Poustis fill me in on the legalities of gear and maybe the occasional places to train, (athens, Sparti or Crete).

My Dad is from Athens, my Mom is 1st generation (parents form there). I never learned the language, which I regret. Why my dad never taught me I don't know. Anyway, not into the culture too much, but we do celebrate a few of the holidays and such. I married a Catholic which is like Orthodox Lite! All my church and religious stuff is geard towards that. In fact, I am "enrolling" in Catholic Classes to become a full fledge Catholic on Easter. I still will be celebrating my Greek heritage and traditions tho.

Has anyone seen the new commercial for the sandwich place (either Subway or Quiznos)? They have a Mediteranian sandwich out and the guy behind the counter gets all gussied up in traditional Greek garb!

I could be there myself next year Pauly. I'll probably hit the mainland for a few weeks and see the relatives and then hit the islands for as much 'gamisi' as i can handle.

Diablo, it's a shame your parents don't indulge in the Greek culture, you're missing out on alot. Have you been to Greece. You should go, it will be a great way for you to re-connect with the culture. You'll love it.
