Im looking for a bargain basement laptop.

All I need it for is cable internet and writing papers for school, thats all. No video games or anything that requires a lot of memory or power. I can get refurb but not looking to spend more than $500-$600 if possible. Anyone know where to get one that fits that description?

what you want is very easy to find for that money. i have bought laptops which can do what you want for 200US (in australia) just looking around nerdy computer websites

start your search on www.pricewatch.com

thing with that site is that they get reports of what online retailers are selling what for what price. you have to work off of there to actually get to the retailer's sites, but it's like price comparison done for you. most of the computer parts i have bought, i started my search on pricewatch. good luck, it's at least a decent starting point!

2.4 g What though?? if it's a celeron don't waste your money.

The 2.4 gig processor 512 RAM thought it had a burner too, pentium processor, I think it was a Compaq tho....
