After failing in my search to find and purchase melanotan, I decided to look into the tanning salons in my area. I found a good deal at a national chain, but let me explain a little.
I tried the Mystic/spray tan thing. It didn't work for me and probably for the same reasons it wouldn't work for you guys. NAmely, I do a lot of things that cause the skin cells that have the 'paint' on them to come off - multiple showers a day and lots of sweating. I also have to shave twice - back-to-back - each morning, and that doesn't help.
I also dislike the traditional beds that cause skin damage and take a lot of time.
After surveying all the salons in my area, I found one about a mile from my home called Hollywood Tan. They have a promotion that I jumped on - $20 a month, unlimited tanning in the basic tube (you stand up in it). The beds there are all the high-powered beds that use the UVA and have limited UVB rays (2% or so).
They have a high end tube that only takes about 6-8 minutes per session and I bought a package of 6 for $40 (half the price since I'm a member). I expect to get a good base using the 6 packages and then go once or twice a week to maintain.
So far it is working pretty well and there are always cuties behind the desk more than willing to rub the lotion on my back.
