Found out today that on the 1st of August I'll be promoted to Corporal. Been a long time coming. I'll also rate my Good Conduct medal for 3 years of service with no NJP's or Courts Martial.
Thanks. I'm waiting on word to whether or not I'm slotted to go, but the company Gunny knows about my shoulder injury and isn't keen on sending a Marine who isn't 100%. I'm waiting on the MRI to come back, but Ortho says the shoulder is pretty jacked up. He wants the MRI to confirm or deny that it's anything else besides the AC joint.
I tried holding out until after Iraq to get it looked at, but a Sgt was trying to charge me for being UA, and when Gunny asked where I was I said medical and that the Sgt knew about I was there [which was true]. I had to fess up about the arm after that.
I got a really sweet promotion. I got WAY more work than I thought I agreed to take on. Then a month later they told me it was a lateral move (despite triple the workload or more) AND they told me that raises were capped at 2%. Sweet.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that, doll. My promotion involves getting to tell mother fuckers off, and getting paid more to do the same job. I also get to have people stand at parade rest when they talk to me.
