They actually spend a lot of time and effort to train them to speak English with an American accent. The downside is that they usually end up with a Texan or Souther style accent and they say dated phrases that were signs that one was hip about 5 years ago.
When I ordered my laptop from Apple, I had an overexcited guy named Sedj.
Sedj wasn't overly helpful and there was a lot of repeating on both sides of the conversation.
I sure as hell couldn't do customer service for another other country.
If it really bothers you - they also do a lot of customer service out of Canada. Anywhere they can pay someone to do it more cheaply - there is no reason they need to be physically located in the States in order to do it - but yes, the accents are a barrier to entry.
In the end - this doesn't solve the problem that you shouldn't have bought a Linksys.
I used to think that too. Had enough of them die on me that I finally just switched to Netgear - than I was like "ohhh, now I see why everyone was telling me that I shouldn't use Linksys."
But at home I currently have D-Link - they just don't make it easy to get Netgear here.
