How long does it ssually take? I mean, after the person passes away?

Not sure how the proceedure differes in other parts of the world, but i'm looking for Canadian input here.

On a side note, I love you like a brother.

it totally depends on how complex their estate was, how many people are involved in the inheritance besides yourself, who the executor is, how competent the lawyers involved are.. etc..

Ive been waiting over a year for money from my great grandmother, the lawyers are working on it apparently but its not a quick process

When my grandfather died it took over a year before anyone received their inheritance. Started out with one lawyer he died during the process. My grandma got another one, he had a heart attack and some other health problems before he finally took care of it.

If there are a lot of people involved it usually takes long because the lawyer has to get all the people to sign and what not. If they don't reside locally some may have to get power of attorney's to have someone else sign for them. All which takes time.
