is this a bad mix? i know as we all do, alchohol and a/s = damage....
.how bad is ibprofen alone to your liver? also how bad is it while on a/s/ anyone seen any studies?

Alot worse then alcohol bud....its very harmfull...

Stay away from constant pain killers while on or OFF

Not only are they bad bad whilst on for your liver, I have recently come across details that it can reduce the amount of muscle gain whilst weightlifting...

I thought Ibuprofin was hard on your kidneys. Isn't it Tylenol that's hard on your liver?

Any links to articles that say Ibuprofin hurts gains? I'd definately be interested, since I so 400 mg or so (fairly low amount) during workouts.

Ibuprofen is hard on the liver, as is Acetominophen. Now, Advil is a real is a bitch !!
Advil = 200mg of Ibuprofin

I've heard that ibuprofen or any anti-inflamatory can inhibit protein synthesis to a certain degree, thus affecting muscle gains. I would like to see somebody post some links to research that proves it. I think it does effect muscle gains, but I don't have any proof. I would really appreciate it if somebody could either prove or disprove this theory. Karma will be given.

Anti imflammatories inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. Thereby potentially decreasing muscle gain. I wouldn't worry it. What I would worry about is the toll taking advil everyday takes on your kidneys. Tom Prince's kidneys problems were due to his abusing high dosages of advil for several years. His shoulders are jacked and the only way he could train was by taking advil. The doctors informed him that they reason he had kidney problems wasn't from AAS, it was from the advil. Go figure.

Ibuprofen may slightly limit your gains.
It does not damage liver much, if at all.
In the short term, Ibuprofen is pretty safe.
Tyelenol is more toxic to liver than Ibuprofen.

ibuprofen work simple as that. nothing else really does. at 200 mgs i feal out of pain. 400 out of intense pain i dont take it regulary but was wondering what the health risks were? i know they make a 800 pill;was just wondering if there was a study on it and the sides sides i meen as in if you guys had personal or know of any experiances?or any real documented studies? just courious

People take Ibuprofen 800 mg 3 times a day continuously for several months without any problem.
It can cause stomach upset (never take it on empty stomach).
Long term use in some people can cause kidney damage.

thats what im sayn people take tons of it.......script after script of 800mgs for years....if 200 or 400 work wonders 800 must be a total pain relief but is it harmfull>?

I would love to see an article or published study showing how ibuprofen really hurts gains. Ibuprofen is not liver toxic, neither is aspirin, although aspirin would be the better choice. Acetaminophen (tylenol) is the liver "killer". This post is about ibuprofen and the liver. It is NOT toxic to the liver, specially if guys just take it once in a while for a headache. Polfajefa says it's worst for your liver than alcohol. That couldnt't be further from the truth. Alcohol IS toxic to the liver, MORE SO than a little ibuprofen pill that you take for a headache. If you meant Tylenol, well, that's a different story....which by the way, it still wouldn't kill you if your were on dbol and you had a headache and you had to take tylenol. Come on guys, let's not blow this shit out of proportion. Moderation is key with everything. Use these pain meds SPARINGLY and it won't do shit to your liver, and it won't hinder your gains. If your worried about an advil/tylenol/aspirin hurting your gains, then you have other issues going on. Sorry 'bout the rant......rough day today.

i was more concerned than if you were on a/s and was also takin advil for pain....would that be a double nono on your liver or kidneys?

You don't need to see studies about side effects of medicines.
Every medicine approved by FDA undergoes 3 phases of studies in human volunteers/patients.
Phase 1 is for safety, phase 2 is for effectiveness, phase 3 is double-blind, placebo-controlled study.
So the side effects are well known when the drug is released.
People who have arthritis takes these medicines regularly for years without much problem.
As for Ibuprofen, in contrast to Tyelenol, it is also anti-inflammatory.
Some of the pain you feel after exercise is due to inflammation.
Some of the muscle damage is caused by inflammation.
So theoretically, by blocking inflammation, Ibuprofen can slightly decrease gains.
I prefer Tyelenol because it is not anti-inflammatory (I never take orals).

I just had a liver biopsy............the one thing they told me afterwards was to avoid anything with asprin in it for at least 48 hours and if possible, forever..........ibu. advil, tylelnol were fine............
