There was a design contest in work, for a shirt we are going to have printed up for all the employees (probably a sweatshirt).

so i work in the marketing department. I'm an assistant manager. So i'm not one of the 'creative' graphic designers (even though i am a graphic designer by education), and i'm not one of the 'smart' technical writers who all have phD's in physics (even though my last job was very technical). but i know i am more creative than most of them (not all- there is one graphic designer who is really creative).

Every one of them submitted a design for the contest, as did a few of the scientists and most of the technical support staff.

I found out yesterday that I won, and i'm not allowed to say anything until it's officially announced. Its so hard to keep it quiet.

the prize is $500, a bunch of gift certificates, and i don't know what else- but it's probably a silly plaque.

my design just made sense to me. It wasn't overly silly or funny, but it looks pretty and got the message across. I'll pm it to you when it's all finalized. :)

being creative is how i get around letting people know all the things I suck at.

I actually submitted an idea that they decided not to present to the panel of judges because one judge might get offended by it, but they said it would have won hands down- a few people that I showed it to want to make them up on their own, but i said not to. that alone was quite a compliment, so i was really happy when i won. :)

well i'm gonna try not rubbing their noses in it or wearing a sign around my neck that says "i won and you didn't".

they probably won't like the shirt though, cause it won't be as good as theirs.

in their mind.
ha ha.
