I think this needs to be made absolutely clear.

I realize that after curling was banned, and during many of the arguments with curling many religious EF members may have felt that they where being attacked for their beliefs to some extent.

This is absolutely not true! There is a huge difference between religious people, and religious nuts!

No rational person would put psychos like curling, and Pat Buchanan, who are one step away from Osama and his followers, in the same group as people like JuiceMullet, frackal and many other people that have some sort of religious belief.

Religious people can be put into two major categories, people that use their beliefs as a companion and people that use them as a weapon.

I will never judge anyone who belongs in the former, but Curling made it very clear that he is part of the ladder.

Most of you that are religious at EF are good people. When you hear someone talking about religious nuts you should not be offended in any way, because if they have any intelligence at all they are not talking about you.

Burning inside, you fucking tool.

I mainly wrote this thread for juice mullet after he made it clear that he thought he was being thrown into the same catagory as curling.

My only problem with it is that I personally believe the more diversified of opinions you have represented (no matter how illogical or strange, and yes sometimes offensive) the more you will learn and benefit as a person in the long run....

As an example- there are a lot of books out there that people would love to see burned... Quite a few of them are found to be offensive or otherwise lacking in merit by segments of the population, but I would never argure for such a thing... There is ALWAYS something you can learn from them....

Just my personal opinion and I know others will disagree...

K for you!

It's a sad reality that groups of common beliefs will always try and eliminate any ideas that do not agree with their own, since it threatens their existance if what they believe is truth isn't so. The discussions on this board are a microcosmic view of that. People can't seem to debate and discuss issues, ideas and concepts for the merits of those things themselves but tend to find fault with the speaker and hurl personal assaults instead of sticking to the issues. It's the difference between adult conversation and that of children.

As one of the religious nuts thank you Tiervexx. I don't take offense at anything generally(curling took offense at everything), I state my beliefs and live and let live, he couldn't. I believe the more godly you strive to be the more patient, tolerant and loving and forgiving you become, if not then you need to re- examine your beliefs. From what I've seen Mullet has pretty much the same attitude.Good Post Bro thanks.

Yes, everyone has the right to be as bigioted as they want to be.

But that does not mean that they must be giving a way to express themselves. The people who run this site got sick of him, so they got rid of the bastard. And this is a much nicer site because of it.

tiervexx you are quality, bor. i totally stand behind what my response pm was. :)

Yep. Why, some of his best friends were towelheads!

So we're better than Curling?

Nothing says tolerance more than thinking that you are better than someone.

I would never say I'm better than Curling but I am more tolerant and don't hate people because they're different than I am

I wish he had not been banned. Maybe one of those timeout thingys would have worked better. He made enemies out of BRR and others, so he got what he had coming. Some of his beliefs I actually agree with. Now I never heard him say racial slurs or what not, and I am against bigotry. I am with Big4Life, making yourselves out to be better than him is not necessary.

As for persecutions of religion and people with religious beliefs & convictions, there is nothing new about this. It has been that way since Noah and beyond.

"Blessed is he who is persecuted for my name's sake"

It is a private site so sure he can be banned... but communication of ideas should never be silenced IMHO

Put it this way - if some ideas exist which you abhor, would you not rather know they exist and to what extent?

This statement reeks of irony to me....

I know you liked curling personaly but there is no way in hell you can honestly believe that there really was anything to learn from his rants.

there are a lot of people on here I could say that about... and that I would have said that about... some of them tho I have at least learned one small thing from...

I can think of at least a few who really annoy me and aggravate me to no end, and I hate and am TRUELY offended by their views....yet, every once in a while- bam there it is, a small kernel of info I can thank them for (although it is hard to admit)

back to my point here tho- which I think is even more important: Put it this way - if some ideas exist which you abhor, would you not rather know they exist and to what extent?
Hypothetical situation: Say there are a small group of people that hate homosexuals, to the extent they believed in physically harming them or murdering, etc... but because people (and you) are so outraged by their rants they ban them from the boards - which cause them to go elsewhere - and through these other avenues, the ideas spread through out the country... Growing unbeknownst and even hidden and protected because the believers know there would be reprocussion to voicing their thoughts. Now all of a sudden those ideas are everywhere and you had no idea it was coming...

Don't you wish you would have allowed it to be SEEN so you at least knew what was happening, and could have done something about it instead of pushing it below the surface?

Allowing the free communication of ideas is not only important to spread the good, but it is also important to know what bad is being spread...

Think about it....

I understand where you are coming from.

1) I do not have to hear the same damn shit from him over, and over again to know that those ideas exist. I think the first dozen were enough.

2) There is a clear line between having any other stupid idea, and being a bigot.

3) I would have been ok with keeping him here, but I am not going to miss him.

The 2 categories stuff is not accurate.

Granted that the categories are EXTREMELY broad, and the line between them is not always perfectly clear, but there is definitely a difference between many people that use their beliefs to guide their lives, and people that use them as an excuse to be ignorant, and even hateful.

People like curling have been fucking up civilization since it began.

This could apply to so many people....

Regardless, I hear your arguments- I just think it is an unfortunate precedent to set...

was curling seriously an alter or no?

Becoming has said that he met curling while curling was visiting in Phoenix.

I will kinda miss curling for the same reasons. It is intresting to know that people in this day and age still have that kind of fevorent belief system.

It also justifies my moving from Texas to DC, I couldn't put up with that for too much longer.

I found curling's posts to be much more entertaining than a lot of stuff that gets posted. He did not, in general, attack people. I wouldn't have banned him.

Right...

Tiervexx, curling may have irritated some members here, but let's not impose some peoples' preferences as metaphysical rules.

Hm, let's patronize the Christians and try to impose a mindless PC categorization... This thread just annoys me.

dude the insane amount of people that jesus bash on here annoy the hell out of me. maybe they should get banned, as well as myself for having a belief that i may post about if someone posts something way out in left field that may or may not be accurate. :) of course if it become the tone of the board to bahlete some users for their banterings then someone like rvxrvx should have been banned a long time ago for his thread about how no one with a religious belief has ever achieved anything in life.

its probably really difficult for the administration of this site, well maybe not very welcome either decision whether to let it be a free for all or to impose limitations. limitations in and of themselves serve very well to defeat the purpost of being able to argue like they do. i dont agree with curlings banning for more than one reason, nor do i appreciate the ha ha threads that have popped up with the mindless slander about him, but limited bashing abilities are better than none.

i dont know. lets just ban tiervexxx for publicly clearing up an argument that him and i (and others) had on another thread :)

:) <<<---- this means im not serious tiervxxxx

So you see no difference between racists, the people that sanctioned mass killings during the crusades, and somebody that knows how to live and let live?

I suppose that you also think you are no better than thieves, and rapists? This "everybody is equal" shit is very irrational.

The point of this thread was to say that I don’t throw theistic people into the same category, but I despise people like curling, and I will never apologize for that.

But don’t think that I am jumping up and down about him being banned. I don’t care a great deal either way.
