whats the first thing i should do? im not about to slit my writs or nothing like that but i been researching last few nights and came to the conclusion that i have some form of seratonin defficiancy.
for example when i take a pondimin tab i get really really relaxed and i dont have anxiety. and it feels great. according through my "search" pondimin supposidly releases seratonin. is there a possible link between my seratonin levels and my overall wellbeing? ive tried 5-htp before and it didnt really do anything. any thoughts comments, suggestions?? im WIDE open right now.

im sorry to post this in the roid forum.

what avenue of anti-'d's do you think he/she will put me on?

thats up to the doc, just go see a doctor about this. Try intense cardio too, that usually makes me happy.

what are antidepressants? what do they do mechanicly?

Good question... you'd be amazed to learn how many prescription medications there are that have an unknown mechanism of action (i.e., we don't know how they work)

George...I've been in the psych field for 6 years now a few more and I could even give you some professional recommendations but for now I can only toss out some rudimentary advice.

First things first...you need to drop the juice/alcohol/drugs for awhile (couple of weeks at least) and let your body get back to its normal levels. Like SofaGeorge mentioned "do NOT self medicate" especially if your system is out of whack already. You can see why right? You start throwing in 5-htp (nature’s Prozac) or pondimin (appetite suppressant) without knowing the root of the problem and you'll just set yourself up to crash even harder. True cases of serotonin deficiency are NOT as commonplace as some websites portray and you certainly couldn't deduce this from reading a couple of websites. For example, if you got a nose bleed while working out then looked on the web and figured out you had hemophilia (bleeding disorder) or a tumor, would these be accurate medical assumptions...no way. We all get depressed, some it hits harder than others (or we just hide it better) , the point is, your not alone. For you to post shows that you need alittle support and i think everyone here would give the same advice, that drugs (medication) is not the first answer..it's a crutch to help you past the depression it's not the solution. Find out what’s really bothering you, then go talk to someone be it a doctor/priest/friend.

For the next 2 weeks try this:
no drugs/gear/alcohol/ap. suppressants (finish anti-e's if on cycle)
Lots of cardio (like hardtime suggested) this will raise you endorphin levels naturally
start a journal, this often helps clarify what might be depressing you
check with the local university for free clinical advise, they often have walk in counselors available (free) and being able to just sit and talk with someone usually helps more than any drug

Here are a couple helpful sites...good luck friend

When it happend to me-combo depression and anxiety, I tried everything and only a shrink and the right mix of meds solved the problem,

I say ditto to IM69 and see a shrink asap.

ssri's are seratonin reuptake inhibitors--they block your seratonin receptor sites so that you have more seratonin in your extracellular fluid. that's usually whats given first. theyll probably start you on zoloft or prozac, but both can have sexual side effects. wellbutrin is good but doesnt have the same side effects. you might want to request it. they are not an immediate fix and may take a week or two to work. you might feel a bit jittery at first, but hang in there. antidepressants are nothing to be ashamed of--they just get you out of the hole, to the surface, so you can work on whatever it is you need to.

good luck.

i only take the pondimin 1-3 times a week tops. the only other thing im on is a fat burner cause im on a cal restricted diet.
do meds correct a seratonin deficiancy?

its amazing what pharmecutical advertising has done to our society, people with minimal knowledge of bio chemistry and medicine can know diagnose chemical imbalences and subsequently self medicate.
see a doctor, seratonin deficency is often an Affect and not a Cause.

Yeah, if you're serious about getting better you should follow Ironmonkey's advice. If things don't get any better after dropping the drugs and alcohol (or you can't) and cardio go see a psych doc. As for meds I've read some nasty shit about Paxil, there is even a class action lawsuit against it's manufacturer. Effexor, Zoloft, and Prozac are popular for sedating and making you feel better; but harsh, addicting, and turn some into zombies. Celexa and Wellbutrin have great reputations, but Wellbutrin is more for those melancholic and hypersomniac individuals. Celexa would be my choice for medication (as a last resort) if I were in your shoes. Prozac, Zoloft, and Celexa are all made specifically to correct a seratonin deficiency but you are just guessing you are deficient. Good luck!

ok thanks everyone. i have 3 weeks left for my cutting diet to be over. by then i should be off the nyc/eca and no carb hella ride.

I WILL GO SEE A DOCTOR

thanks everyone

George, I am currently trying to stay below 20 grams carbs a day,
has not affected my depression/anxiety in anyway.

The prescription that I take daily to eliminate/minimize depression & anxiety is 2.5mg of Xanax and 20mg of prozac.

Stay away from antidepressants. They do more harm than good and you will probly end up taking them for the rest of your life. Look at the things in life that are causing your depression and work on changing them. All drugs will do is numb your brains reaction to the things in your life causing you pain. Attack the source and everything will fall into place.

Georgie, it could be the diet...same thing happened to me on an 80gram carb diet.

im on a ckd diet at the moment. my results with the diet are outstanding it totally changed my body compisition and my overall outlook on my body and attitude.:D im also JACKED up on ephedrine/caffiene too so thats prolly adding to it. im gonna stay on the diet for at least one more month or so. after this no carb diet i will SLOWLY add carbs back into my diet till i get to 200 grams or so then go on a long retreat to get myself back together.

i can use a lil xanax to relax and kick it though when im not 'PUMPIN"...

thanks everybody

Personally, I think it's the diet. I'm doing a TKD, I couldn't feel more like shit if I tried...

Try intense cardio too, that usually makes me happy

-WHAT KIND OF SICK FREAK ARE YOU? Cardio makes you happy? You need the medical attention...AND FAST! Heh, j/k.

What are your symptoms? I actually just saw another psychiatrist today. JAckass doesn't want to follow me through the medication process. Last guy I saw said the same thing. Tehy all agreee I need to be medicated but no one will fucking do it and I keep getting bounced around. I should fucking off myself and leave a note blaming those fuckers and cause them some serious distress.
Anyway, depression sucks and it pretty much runs my life right now. I'm helpless to it more or less. All I look forward to are my cycles as sad as that is. So, go get help bro. PM me if you wanna talk or what not. I have tried a number of meds if you think you are interested in that route and want to hear some anecdotal evidence of their validity - none I tried worked for me though I should warn you.

Keep your head up!!!!

Hey bros. having dealt with depression first hand I can tell all of you-----Don't fuck around!!! Go see a Doctor ASAP. Treu depression isn't one of those things that a lifestyle change will cure. It is a true chemical imbalance in the brain having to do with your Seratonin levels, it is not worth trying to find a herbal cure- it won't fix anything.
The quicker you get in and get help the quicker you will feel better, I wasted six months of my life because of depression, I don't want to see anyone waste as much as a day.

I agree. That happens to me also. After your cutting diet, carb up for a week and tell us how you feel.
