I need a substitute for oatmeal...

I am so fucking sick of eating it.

Is there something else with a good ratio of long acting (slow burning) carbs that I can mix chicken breast chunks with?

Try some goatmeal. It's fantabulous.

Seriously, try picking up some other raw cereal grains at a health food store and experiment a bit.

Also, bear in mind that when considering GI and the duration of action in relation to the digestion of carbs, any additional protein and/or fiber component will slow carb uptake in the digestive system.

For example, the GI of Corn Flakes, though not the best choice for breakfast (almost equal to sugar in regard to GI), can be effectively reduced by consuming your chicken and/or a fiber supplement.

suck it up and eat your oatmeal like i do everyday. i eat it plain, too. no flavoring or anything. you gotta work for it AAP. quitters never win.

(This is not a joke) You might try a bowl maggots they have lot's of protein. In non western societies it is a delicacy. There are a few specialty markets in the states where you can get them.

AAP - I have been eating cream of wheat (switched for variety too)- I don't know if it is the same thing, but I am getting same workout results if not better.....

i got tired of oatmeal so i've been eating this lately -

10 oz (1 1/4 cup) Kellog's Smart Start Soy Protein Flakes
8 oz (1 cup) 2% milk
20g unsweetened, unflavored whey protein

mix the whey protein and milk in a shaker, pour in a bowl then add cereal.

comes out to about-

38g protein
55g carbs *14g sugar
<6g fat

I like this stuff called kashi, it's like tougher brown rice.

You can always take your oatbran - put it in a blender with some skim milk and any (or all) of the following...
banana
peach
yogurt
any fruit really.

doesn't taste to bad.

I put milk and raisins on my oatmeal, makes it edible for me. Eating it plain is like eating wet cardboard.
