I'm very lazy so I may not do this at all. I have an AV rack which was a little expensive when I bought it. Now it's only about $260. Oh well my loss, no big deal.

Anyway, I may not need it anymore and want to sell it. Here's an Ebay link to one exactly like it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=20488&item=4328145928&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V

What kind of price can I put for it? Does it have to be an auction? It may not be worth my time for under $100-$150. If I can get $150 I guess I'll take it. Of course it's used but in good shape with an extra glass shelf I think. They go for $50-$60/each. So what do you think?

Oh, how about shipping? How the hell do I get that in a box? Would'nt it cost about a hundred dollars? At UPS store?

Please ATDQ! thanks

You should figure out shipping costs before you decide to list the auction. It may be so expensive that it won't sell. The shipping on the auction that you have above is $60, which sounds about right.

That dude is selling his for $249 and it's a dutch auction so if anyone wants to buy it, they HAVE to pay that price.

You could start out listing it @ $150, put a buy it now price at $220 or something. It looks like he is the only other person selling that exact thing. So say a person searches and he comes up with your auction and other guys. Your's is at $150, they'll check that out first.

Yeah but his is new (I think) and mine is used. How would I charge $220 when it's new for 250-260? I would LOVE to get $220. I'm getting a slight woody.

Well, you probably wouldn't get $220, you would just use that as your "Buy it Now" option, in case someone searches that product....and want's it for that price, doesn't want to risk getting in a bidding war with someone. There's always a chance. I use that all the time.

Make your auction desciption very specific. Include at least a couple high quality photos showing your shit and stress "JUST" like new. Show how clean and unscratched it is.

Thanks bro. I'll see if that happens when I get my new stuff and this thing just needs storage. I may want to get rid of it more that way... Next week. Thanks again.

Also, where do I ship something like that? UPS store? They were expensive. I shipped a small DVD player and it was about $48! They boxed it and packed it though.

How about Post office? Do they do stuff that big?

Weird. Now that I looked at that guy's auction closer, at the bottem it shows the total shipping to be $99.00. Dude's pulling some scam shit, trying to sneak that in without people noticing. Look at his feedback, people have been bitching about it, lol.

Not sure about shipping something that large, how much does it weigh approx, you can see prices based on weight at any companies website. UPS, Priority, wherever

post office is much cheaper upto a certain weight, 5 lbs or less i think. i go to a store that has a ups dropoff site if it is too big. do all the packing and boxing yourself. they have fedex dropoffs too but i've never used one

I shipped 4 Viper wheels for $75.00 UPS Ground this morning......whoever packed your DVD player must have seen you fall off the turnip truck. :)

UPS is weird, they measure the box plus the weight to come up with their charges, it may be cheaper if it can be disassembled to ship it in seperate boxes.

Thanks bros. Just a guess, maybe 40 pounds. Itt's 4 or 5 glass shelves and two metal hollow side tubes.

It might dissassemble, did'nt think of that. I will box it myself I think and bring it to UPS or Fed ex... not sure where yet? Gotta check out some places.

So, Ill take some pics, then box it up and plac it on Ebay. If I could get this done by summer, awesome!

Should I give a fixed shipping price? or depends on where the buyer is?

LOL @ pittbull. I boxed the DVD player twice. That's why it was so much money. Long story. Should I have haggled with the guy at the UPS store? lmao It's all good.

nvr do bussiness with a guy called "deuce 1813" or something to that extent. douchebag ripped me off for 235 US. which is 2 million canadian.

List it with a lower starting price, and a reserve at a higher price.
If you don't reach the reserve price you don't have to sell it.
But you might change your mind and sell it below your reserve price once sombody
actually offers to buy it.
List it as offered without shipping for local buyers in your area.

What are the odds someone will need that AND be local (except for Bilestew, mmmmm white castle...)? Maybe I could do both local and shipping.

Also, can I just copy and past ethe item description or is that illegal? lol damn this!

it's not necessarily a "scam" when they do that. i've seen items on ebay that were extremely cheap but the shipping was very high. didn't make sense at first til you think about it.....ebay takes a cut of your final value fee but they do not touch your shipping costs. say you've got an item that normally sells for $50. you put it on ebay with a buy it now for $45 + shipping. ebay takes their cut of the $45. now, turn around and list that item for $25 with $25 shipping. ebay only takes their cut from the $25 final price and doesn't touch shipping. instead of losing $6-7 for selling it at $45 you only lose $2-3 for selling it at $25 but charging $25 shipping.

i think if someone is going to do that, they need to inform their buyer of why they are doing it so they understand instead of bitch about being ripped off on shipping.

I would try to sell it through the paper or something. Ebay just went up on their fees. Now they are out-fuckin-rageous !! If you sell it for $200.00 or whatever you will only clear about $175.00. They just raised their fees SIXTY PERCENT !! Their stocks plummeted yesterday by $4.12 a share.

see my post about high shipping charges.

I would love to sell it locally, but it's an item that no one really would want. It's an AV rack! Plus it's higher end and a tad expensive for just a rack.

Who knows, maybe I'll put it for locals only.

Hey if this works out, I could try selling my power rack and/or smith machine... They is heavy, I may go local with them as well. Damn this place!

Damn it!

how well does the AV rack break down into separate pieces? is it something you could put into a tall skinny box and ship it? shipping might not be as much as you think. i've been suprised at some shipping costs. what you do is get a bunch of pics of it, package it all up, then get it weighed. UPS and i believe FedEX have stuff online where you can enter the box dimensions, weight, and destination zip code and get a shipping cost. once you do that, punch in zip codes for upstate Washington, southern California, Maine, and Florida and put it on your auction saying "this is the approximate cost to ship to these ZIP codes." you can even give the box dimensions and weight so a perspective buyer can go and enter the info themselves.

If your thingy had a gimmick it would fetch a higher price. Say Madonna sat on it or it is possessed by the ghost of your great granddad and you will see the offers into the thousands.

GL IS the gimmick, the AV stand is just an added feature.

LOL Yeah, I'm the gimmick. Maybe I'll do a "My wife won the Big Screen TV battle"... "That bitch" Blah blah blah... and get $9,000 for it. lol jk

Thanks bros. I'll keep all this in mind and let you know what happens. I may be able to dissassemble it. The shelves definatley come off and the bars on the sides are only 2 inches thick or soif taken off.

Crak, buy my power rack!

i don't have room for a power rack in the basement. plus my shoulder is still all fucked up. i came to the realization today that i'm going to need a referral to an orthpedic surgeon and i'm going to need surgery. this injury isn't going away and i've been ultra easy on my shoulder for months.

If you going to sell it locally forget about ebay. Would be pointless.

Crak, My point was that higher on the page the shipping was listed as $60. Then lower towards the bottem of the page (the fine print) it says shipping is $60 plus $40 for each additional item. Then it says total shipping = $99.00
