Does anyone here know of any Americans who do this? I have always considered this as a future possibility for me, since I've seen that beachfront, 2 bedroom houses in Playas de Tijuana(Tijuana Beach) are going for like $600/month. That way you could take advantage of the exchange rate & wouldn't have to worry about hiking gear over the border anymore. It is a very short drive to get to the USA also.

Sounds like it would be nice. What are the border crossings like though?? How bad is your commute??

Im not sure what it is like in the A.M. I DO know that there are a TON of Mexicans who make this commute in the A.M. though, so it might be a little crowded. I think it would be best to drive to the border, park, and walk across. Im guessing like 30 miutes on a real slow day....maybe 1 1/2 on a busy day if you did it this way. Driving across in the AM is a different story. I would imagine the wait is anywhere from 1 1/2 hours & up. That line can get pretty long.

Yes I know several mexicans that live in TJ and work in San Diego. They always complain about the drive though. It may be short distance but getting across the border in the morning is a very long wait.

dont do it

bro, it may be on teh beach and it may be cheap but it is still mexico. if you dont speak spanish your everyday activities will be a piainin the ass, grocery shopping, going shopping for whatever. you cant drink the water whatever you do and our bodies arent used to eating the food so worms can be a problem. And the drivign wait in the morning averages about an hour 45 minutes, but lately b/c of the terrorist crackdown and extra security it has been up to 6 hours at times. And not to mention the packs of wild dogs roaming the place, lol. it is a good idea on paper but it is the worst idea in the world!

Hey roidog...Could you please check your mail please? I really need your input/help. If you've already recieved my e-mail and can't help me out, would you at least let me know that.

Thanks Bro!

I don't know about commuting but it is a great place to retire to. Remember to never buy property. The Mexican government has been known to steal back land and property from Americans and other people living there. Rent/lease/buy a timeshare....the idea of having a maid and whatnot is appealing. LOL.

A friend of mine does this. He works in San Diego and lives in Tijuana. He is not a juicer, so it really doesn't beneifit him that way, but he saves huge amounts of cash on living in Mexico. The only problem he has is the morning commute across the border. It can be a real pain in the ass. If you could get a job working 12-8 or off hours you would be set.
