I have to ask something about benching

I know this probably should go in training but I spend 98% of my time in chat.

I bring that bar slow down to my chest and then back up. I see some guys in the gym bringing it down half way so their elbows don’t even hit 90 degrees and then hoist it back up. Is this just bad training habits or is there something to this method? I think it’s actually not even benching and just a triceps exercise. Right? Wrong? WTF are these guys doing?

I am not about to go over and ask. One of these two guys got a scrip for Deca. Of course everyone knows because he told everyone. No idea how, but since he is now on “juice” him and his buddy walk around the gym like bad asses benching 225.

Is this just bad benching?

It's bad bench technique.

i know a doc that writes scripts for test and deca.

In the US? He has to get asked about it from time to time. It's just not done because of the scrutiny.

I have to commend the doctors that do their job without fear of getting in trouble.

Exactamundo.

If you can't control the weight down to your chest, or within an inch or two, you're lifting too much.

Within an inch or two? Why did you add that? The weight needs to go all of the way down and under control.

Not always.

The main goal is to bring the bar down to where your upper arms are parallel to the floor, or slightly past that. Taller guys with longer arms can do this without touching their chests with the bar.

People do that? I go all of the way down.........and I have proportions similar to a chimpanzee. I once got a pull because I tried to turn the weight aroud witohut hitting rock bottom.

Each tot heir own I guess.

It can be but it's really only written for AIDS cases to help with wasting.

No idea how this guy got it. Maybe he has the monster? Who knows.

A doc can prescribe Deca & Anadrol for a variety of reasons. Wasting disease, AIDS/HIV, test replacement therapy, etc.

Could be poor form or a set of aprtials.

deca is prescribed for fibromylagia

...the bar should always touch the chest....your grip should be fasioned accordingly.

It seems like bad form to me, kinda like squatting without going to parrallel. These bad ass college wrestlers I used to lift with would bench like that...that is how there coach taught them to bench...they claimed it worked more of your pecs and less tricep. Seems gay to me.

Yea, seems like bad benching or partials, however doesn't really even seem like he is doing partials correctly. I sometimes have these issues to to my unusually long arms. I am 5'8 but have the arm length of a guy 6'2 or more.

He needs to be slapped in the face for not touching the bar to his chest...
