Moving...
It always sucks. It was easier in my younger days for sure. Probably moved households 15 or more times within the CONUS (Continental United States). I should count them.
If you're moving on somebody else's arrangements, it cushions the blow. If you're moving as a DIY (Do it Yourself) and have nobody lined up on the other end to, it sucks.
What I used to do (before the Internet prolifieration) was just to have enough money to stay at a Red Roof Inn and handle "temporary" living expenses, keep the van parked outside, and start going through the phonebook - after asking people where they'd recommend living. That way you can cut through the broker.
But I've also found that brokers are very quick to jump at the opportunity to work with you and find you a place at all hours of the night - it just costs, well, a hefty brokerage fee.
Good luck in whatever means you transport and travel. You might also have the issue with the little Cubanitos/Cubanitas, who aren't so comfortable taking that long ride in the family car or traveling in a rental truck. So there may be airfare.
