I have officially given up.........

Thats it......I'm going to do part time work as a bartender. Economy sucks and I have spare time and my truck needs some work done. I'll be slinging drinks.

I've been thinking an upscale hotel bar would be a good place to work.

now you can pick up hot biotch's.

Haha................always heard it was the greatest gig for meeting the biotch's.

I was thinking I might get mondo tips at a gay bar. They don't have to know that I just can't do men.

Nice thing about giving up......you can work anywhere.

May I recommend a Sam Adams?

NO! Please give me a 40oz! I want to make sure any terrorist will be taken out for good! Besides I'm a Malt Liquor Crazy Horse Kind of Man! I can't believe they banned that shit! That used to be my favorite drink!

40oz of Malt Liquor should produce a nice buzz!

Any tips from guys who have bartended? I'm more interested in a nice work environment than maximum dollars.

i used to bartend at the local honky tonk around here. had to buy a book of drinks and memorize like 50 that were pretty common for the bar. small bar, so theres no bouncer. had a 21inch sawed off 12 gauge under the bar with a blank first up to break up shit. never ad to use it, but the reason i quit was the old man who owned it got some shit off a group of guys and shot one directly in the chest.

if your looking for straight money consistently, the gay bar is the way to go. otherwise, wink at every chick over 35 you meet.

Memorize 50 drinks? Thats not a small job. That should cover most of them I would think.

Maybe the gay bar is not a good idea.

Know some pros and cons on other types of places?

A nice restuarant with a full bar. You will get tipped out by the servers and will split the tips with your fellow bartenders, as well as making tips working the bar serving drinks and food.

The thing about working a club is that you are on your own when the shit gets deep. The busier it gets, the more people you will serve out of turn and the longer people will have to wait. This means you work harder for less tips.

The best gig is to bartend for a catering buisness. By far the best tips you will ever get :)

the above post is good, but most would want some exp in a bar situation. throwing together a drink is but half the challenge.

test boy, i dont know where you live, but around here theres riverboat casinos. a buddy of mine used to make some mad cash there, but you have to look a certian way.

I'm in Denver. There is a gambling town about 30 miles away. I'd prolly meet their criteria for looks but.......gambling AND drinks? Christ.....not sure I'm ready to sink that far.

you have bartender experience?

I served beer one summer but the answer is.....not really. I'll have to go to bartender school since I would want to be a very competent bartender before too long.

I need some challenge, I'm looking forward to school. Bartenders are almost always among the worlds easiest people to get along with.

Bartender, I would like a Rusty Nail, a Slow Comfortable Screw, a Brain Damage and a Fudpucker Special....thanks.

Since you like to keep your "tush" in shape, I'm sure AAP can deliver a Slow Comfortable Screw and Fudpucker Special. He is prolly writing an email as we speak.

Brain Damage......just hang around EF.

Rusty Nail.....can you tell me what is in it?

It might be hard to just walk in off the street and say 'I'd like to bartend here.' Places usually promote from within, meaning servers with seniority get priority. I'm sure that is not the case everywhere though. Good luck!

I'm sure that is the case with restaurants.

I've seen lots of ads for bartenders though.
