I have Lost 20lbs Without Getting On the Rat Mill

I don't know about you guys but I just loathe cardio. I love lifting but hate cardio. I just do. I hate getting on the rat mill putting the info in and then start running yuck! It is so boring and it is so tiring and time consuming.

So what I do instead is go wakeboarding two or three times a week. Eat right. And I bust my ass lifting in the Gym. I never go light always as heavy as possible to failure. I think heavy lifting works better than cardio. Look at all the fat girls in the aerobic classes they never get skinnier. But the chicks that lift weights look better in no time.

Anyway my chest has gone out and my gut has gone in. I get my second bf content checked today I will let you know my results after. I have done t3 and clen(actually I consider those my cardio. ;) And I think those work great as a substitute.

But anyway I just want to say you can lose weight without turning into a rat in a cage(hey that was a song wasn't it?).

Well am I the only lazy cardio person here or do any of ya'll feel the same?

There are more advantages to cardio than just shedding a few pounds.

It helps you get fit. I'm not talking about strong; I'm talking fit. Healthy heart and lungs, endurance, that type of thing.

No knock against getting strong and big, but why not get fit as well?

I don't know because I loath running? Besides you don't think the wakeboarding counts as some kind of cardio. You know I just don't sit behind the boat I am jumping that wake back in forth none stop for 10 to 14 minutes.

Not all of us are here to get "fit". There is nothing truely healthy about advanced bodybuilding. If you don't have to do cardio...why do it? It burns muscle and come show day that could make or break your shot at a trophy. If you're all about being "fit" and men's health like then don't get off the treadmill. Otherwise...Use only as needed to shed the last percent or two to come in full and ripped.

Its a myth that the only path to leanness is through endless cardio. I rarely do any outside of a quick warmup, an occassional short jog, and a game of hoops, and I always have exposed abs (even on this mass cycle I'm on). Increasing your muscle mass will do more for you, in terms of long-term fat burning effects, than wasting your life on a treadmill.

Once you have reached a certain level of muscularity, intense weight training and a healthy diet will keep you lean. I believe we should be active---enjoy outdoor sports, have funs, have great sex, ect.---but I don't see the point of spending hours & hours every week on a cardio machine. There are too many catabolic factors that can come into play when devoting yourself to cardio. My thought as I walk past all the dudes on the treadmills, as I head to the weight room, is "skinny fat guys..... "

Good job Curling, keep it up.

I agree. I don't think cardio is necessary to fat loss. Beneficial for health? Of course.. Just not necessary to fat loss..

A lot depends on your body - for me nothing gets me below 12% bf except morning cardio on an empty stomach. I can mass up like nothing, but with it comes fat. Not to mention the ever-popular estrogen-related fat deposits. My abs werent' ready to show themselves at 9% bf - so the only way to whittle them out is MORE cardio. I was already down to minimum calories so I couldn't diet anymore. Spinning or anythign like that would've taken its toll on my muscle mass.

Also it depends on what you are doing it for - competition - an evil necessity. Life - maybe just lifting, clean eating and staying active will make you happy.

I'm with you bro. I can't motivate for cardio. Always hated running, and more so as I get larger.

When summer comes I go rollerblading. So many good looking girls down on the trail, I have to set myself a time limit of 90 mins, or I'd wear myself out completely.

I've always much preferred just playing sports, hockey, volleyball, baseball, etc., to "cardio." Who wants to go running or ride the bike in the gym when you can be outside near a lake or actually in the water playing around?

Now that I'm getting too old to have friends though I think I may have to go X-C skiing with my wife in the winters to burn off the flab.

Pimpnain't easy,

Thanks bro it wasn't easy resisting all those chips and dips and especially pizza. The way I look at it it is easy for me to push away food than push away on the treadmill. A cookie just ain't worth 9 minutes on that thing so I blow off the cookie.

Breezers I am with you too bud.

Thanks for all the replys I'm glad to see that I am not the only lazy cardio person on this board. :D
