God fucking dammit. i would take a life of poverty over a life of stress anyday. The only things worse than stress are actively suffering or not having a social network.

actually, i kind of like stress.......well, I like being extremely busy.....at doing something challenging. boredom is more stressful to me.

i define stress as having something of value being threatened to be taken away from you unless you act/accomplish a certain way. Ive never considered being overworked to be stress per-se. To me thats different than stress, thats exhaustion.

Stress is someone holding something you love and care about hostage and threatening to kill it unless you do X,Y,Z.

We're all slaves to something. There's no escaping it?

i dont think thats how it is. A person doesn't ahve to have their valued things being held hostage and on the brink of destruction 24/7 in life. I've lived 24 years and this whole lifestyle of having something you hold dear held on the brink all the time is new to me. Im hoping i can make it go away soon as its doing alot more harm than good.

A little stress can make you work harder and stay more focused

BTW kava can help

You need some uppers so you can be the sharpest tool in the shed. I like stress 'sometimes' makes me work really hard.

I had a major problem while in UG (uni) with being impatient, leading to stressful dilemmas and unforseen situations without apparent solutions. I think learning through some failures and recovering might be one of the most ultimately effective methods of learning to be patient, for the person who was not already brought up in a very conformist society. Being patient, to me, involves accepting the status quo (including the knowledge or ideas of other times). Major unplanned stress might be caused by the non-acceptance of one's status quo, in general. Non-acceptance of the status quo might lead to lack of knowledge of the future or delusional overconfidence. "Failing to plan is planning to fail." Not following such could ultimately lead to a combination of self-perpetuating low confidence and stress. Who knows what else that could lead to. Perhaps it will lead Nordstrom to become private clown for childrens' birthday parties. This is an example of success in an adverse situation and gives hope to those with high levels of stress. :)

I really need to do something about this stress. ive had chronic stress since fall of last year, and it was really bad around dec/jan.

Sucks. last year i was losing a good deal of weight, i was going to the gym about 5x a week, i was eating healthy and i was drinking alcohol about 2x a month. That all stopped around early dec. when teh stress became 3x worse. Now im drinking about 12x a month, i barely go to the gym, & im eating crap. on the bright side i haven't regained any of the weight ive lost though. I really dont like the direction im taking to cope with this. alcohol and pizza is probably not the best anti-stress combo out there. I've read that when you are stressed its alot harder to diet though so i dont know if i can reasonably diet anytime soon. On the bright side the depression the stress triggered seems to be gone due to taking a SAMe booster.

Exercise is probably just as good for stress as alcohol but im turning to alcohol for some reason.
