i hate musketeer!

so im reading the "how much can u squat thread" and musketeer says something like "you guys should try to do the 20-20, 20 reps, 20 sets. youll come back stronger than ever before." ect.

so today i go to the gym, and say to myself. "ah, what the hell, lets give it a go." let me tell u guys that i now hate musketeer, not because of bad advice. in the contrary, his advice was so dead on that now i cant walk, lol. after finishng my work out i had to crawl to my car to get my cell phone, just so i could call 911 and tell them to pick me up. then i called my mom and cried like a baby, lol.

the 20-20 works guys, i defenetly know im not walking tomorrow, lol. awesome work out. ill let u guys know how it goes 4 weeks from now.

thanx musketeer, i hate u, but in a nice way.

That is nothing more than tricking the muscle. Probably not very advisable to do that type of workout for weeks on end. Maybe once every other month.

If that was the first time you have done it, you don't really know if it works or not. You do know that it was hard, but don't know if it will really make you stronger. 12 reps is as high as you need to go on a regular basis for building power/mass. I stick to the 8-12 rep range, sometimes going down to 4-6 for a really heavy set. I am not back to my strongest yet, but I was squatting 500 for about 3-4 reps a little less than a year ago. Currently at 405 for sets at 8. My gym does not have great spotters and I work out alone now so it is a little harder to push yourself do the heavy ass weight sometimes.

No doubt - Its hard for me to actually go paralell in the mid 500's knowing that I might have to drop the bar and break that shit in half... I need a workout partner - but only on Squat or Dead days...

it was defenetly hard man. the first 5 were easy, but after 11-13, i was dying, wanted to give up, lol. but before i did them i told a bro in the gym about it, so he kept pushing me till the end. the walk to my car was terrible, lol.

I always like a good spotter on the bench. Too easy to get hurt.
 
im a lil confused here.. ur sayin u did 400 squats in a days workout.. why woul du ever do this.. and how did u keep count.. and how long did it take.. and with what weight?
 
it was recommended by someone here, so i googled it and found some articles on it that supported it. i decided to try it, and it was defenetly harder than i expected. i kept count cause i did 20 sets of 20 reps, not 400 straight. hence tha name, 20-20. i did it with just the bar and only resting 60 seconds between sets. well near the end, i was resting like 2 min, lol.
im a firm believer that lower reps with heavy weights is what works, but after not making much improvement. i decided to give it a go, to shock the muscles.
