I never new managing employees was this difficult. i've always been a happpy go lucky dude, working for someone else. now i gotta be a dick and regulate these slackin' fucks, which i used to be. people calling in sick, coming in late, not showing up...my blood seriously boils everyday.

the idea of committing a crime, making a quick mill, and never working again sounds ultra appealing, provided the chances are favorable.

That's cuz poeple don't like what they're doing. Question is : why?

I loved being in charge. But I took a step up and don't have people reporting to me anymore.

I'm still figuring the in charge thing out...kinda new to it.

I used to be a project lead along time ago and was in charge of a team of ten. I was great. As long as everyone worked hard, we got things done. Those that didn't were put into support type roles to help the project along.

Sure, you're a part time babysitter; but someone once told me that a great manager can make anyone great.

Welcome to my world.... :)

You'll adjust over time and learn to look at it from the perspective of "What do I need to do right now." To get x,y,z done rather than from Fuck x isn't here so I'm screwed on Y. You learn to work around the bs.

And its just a guiding principle thing that you will adopt and apply to your paticular business model. It's not something you really read, think about and then apply.

It's cause you're middle management which is ultimately the hardest position. You have to motivate lazy fucks to do their job and still upper management is never satisfied.

yep.
paid just enough to be happy, while the people i oversee aren't as compensated. no bennys, no 401k etc, typical part time jobbers. hard to get these peeps pumped about the business when they don't give 2 flying fucks

lol awesome assessment...so true about the being fucked on Y thing. that is how i feel. though I'm starting to get through it

Dude you should watch The Office it's on TV. NBC I think at like 9 or so. Steve Carrell is the boss and tries so hard to be friends with the coworkers. One of the most overlooked shows on.

The guys on the team i lead are cool and hardworking which make it easy for me. The only thing I have a hard time with is keeping them from realizing that I do no work and am on the net all day while they do everything.

It can be a great thing when you have people trhat want to do well, that are motivated, and want to succeed in almost all aspects of life. The trick is, to fill your office with said people. I just got transferred from a place like that to a place filled with people that were poorly managed, think that the company owes them the world, that don't want to work, and have horrible work habits/ ethics. It's really been hard to stay positive and make them like what they do, and to help them realize how well they can do. Just keep on. Don't be their friend, don't be condacending (sp?), just think about what makes you want to do well, find out why they have the job in the first place, and help them remember why they liked that field enough to start in that line of work. Use that to help you.

d d d d d d d d boss....ahhhhhhhhhhhh the boss is back

Me too. It's a lot more stressful. You have to take the heat for all of their asses and they don't seem to understand.
