I am watching "The Road"

Normally this movie would be right up my alley. Good plot, good acting, but it just isn't doing it.

Same here...usually love movies like that....this one not so much

I really liked the book, so I enjoyed seeing it all brought to life on screen.

I like the fact it portrays humans as being uncivilized. There is no doubt in my mind if society broke down people would round up each other and chow down.

I'll add the book to the scores of others I need to read.

I read the book, on 75th's recommendation iirc. I liked the book because it was well-written, conveying something powerful and emotive to me. I think the movie was worthy, Viggo having done a credible job. But it's hard to say that it's "good." The story is relentlessly bleak and its subject matter is sad beyond words. If the movie works for you, if it's effective, then you'll probably lose all joy or hope for at least a few hours.
