i am so psyched right now

I got promoted at my job the other dayafter only being on the job for 3 months. there were 3 positions open that needed to be filled. one of them was a full time position which means benefits and an extra day of work a week and a small pay raise. the other 2 were for the sergeant postion. one on the night shift the other on the mid shift. that one also comes with benifits and also an extra day of work a week, but the pay is double what i make now. the other people that put in for the sergeant position had 15, 17 and even 20 years at the college. i mainly put in for it to show them im serious about staying there for a while and also to get experience in interviewing for sergeant so when i do have a chance to make it ill be prepared and more confident. WELL, i caught wind a week ago that i blew the other applicants away in the interview and that i do have a good chance in making sergeant. well i thought my little time on the job would hurt me and hold me back from getting it since there were people way more qualified for the position. well i was wrong. the Captain pulled me in his office the other day and told me i was selected for the sergeant position and it wasnt even i question about me making it. after my interview with the Captain and his boss from human resources she looked at my captain and said i got the job witout even discussing it further. the other sergeant position took them a few weeks to come to a decision but they said i got the job right after i left the interview.


it is funny how life can turn on a dime like that. when i was put out of the navy for medical reasons i went through a rough 3 years. i mean the only GOOD job i got after the navy was at a strip club and i cant even say it was that good. now i work for the state for florida and i have 2 retirement plans.

thank you for your kind comments. today is the official day i put on my sergeant badge. my first day of work as sergeant will be this Saturday. its going to be wierd working with the same people that trained me but this time im in charge. its gonna be awkward for a little bit, but im sure in time it will be as if i always had been in charge.
