hurricane's a comin'

Thursday and Friday are supposed to hit us with winds over 140 knots.

I've been in 5 hurricanes in the States (all in the Outer Banks), but have yet to be in one here.

If our power and net connection stays up (it should since all the lines run underground), then it means I get a nice vacation.

If we do lose power though, then it is going to suck major nuts. I'll be doing a lot of reading books by flashlight power.

140 knots...thats fast.

The Candianers that I work with are convinced that it will all come and be crazy.

I on the other hand am more skeptical and will reserve my opinion until there is actually some weather that can hurt me.

And yeah, I nearly saw a Canadianer fistfight over how fast 140 knots is in mph.
I, to be frank, was amazed that they weren't busting out kilometer action on each other.

I'd love to see to Canucks fighting over this.

I bet the "ehs" get pretty intense after awhile.

Could you kindly stand outside in your front yard when it hits and hold up a sheet of 4x8 plywood at a bearing angle of approx 160 degrees magnetic.

I am hoping you can deflect it a bit north so it misses Florida..

thanks broly.. You're the bestest ever..

I'm curious to see the people that go out and play in the weather.
In the days prior to the other hurricanes that I've been in, it made for some intense wave action to boogie board in (I don't know how to surf like the cool kids... that and have no board).
But here the reefs are so far out that the shores don't get much wave action here.
There are those people that use the big ass parachutes/kites and boards that are strapped on like snowboards - I could see them out in the pre-storm winds.

I can't find any new items really warning about this storm, but everyone seems to know about it and I got an e-mail from my landlord reminding us to stock up on candles, batteries, etc and to fill the tub up with water.

Oh well, if the power does go out, I have lots of books I can read.

It's as tight as..........

The Outflow is amazing! The Feeder Bands are firm! The Eye winds are devastating! And the Storm Surge is going to wipe out any coastal area it hits!

What a bitch!

And to think that big bitch might try to take out The Great Harry One Who Shaved It All Off And Change His Name From Wodin to Badahovsta or whatever and Ylifter to!

You have nothing to worry about. According to the meteorologists exact words on the weather channel " This hurrican WILL NOT hit florida". There assuming the tropical low is going to push it northward. Fucking idiots, this one was eerie in that it's looking like andrew. I can't believe those fucking morons made that statement. Now you got a day to get out town. Good luck.

I used to have two web-cams, but along with most everything else I owned, I eitiher sold them or gave them away to the trash men when I moved.

Here, there is no such thing as a cheap web-cam. Things cost at least twice as much here, especially in terms of computer stuff - and it is all older stuff. I so miss the new stuff in the States - imagine how people from Tokyo feel when they move to the States.

Even if I did have the web-cam, after talking to people here, I have little faith that my net connection nor the power will stay up during this thing.

The cruise ships haven't left yet, so this could get really interesting if they haven't left by tomorrow evening.
