Hunters / Trappers needed! I'm under attack!

Lately I have noticed that something is digging in the back yard. We got 7" of rain last week, so the ground is still soft.

I noticed day before yesterday that it appeared that something has been burrowing in the yard. Didn't think a whole lot of it, until I went out this morning to have my cofee by the pool. Holy SHIT!

Seems we got ourselves some kind of varmint that is having a damn party in my backyard!

Evidence of little paw prints!

Another shot...

Now, I am all in favor of sharing the neighborhood with the local animal population, but this is getting out of hand! His excavating is getting the pool all dirty.

Here are my thoughts towards a solution...

1. Get out the 9 MM and wait this little peckerwood out.

PRO: One shot and the deal is done.
CON: Neighbors and local sheriff's department probably won't care for the report from the pistol.

2. Set up claymore mines and trip wires.

PRO: Very effective, problem solved.
CON: Collateral damage to the whole damn neighborhood.

3. Poison bate for the little punk.

PRO: Will work.
CON: May kill other "innocent" varmints.

4. Pellet gun.

PRO: Much less noise than the 9 or claymore.
CON: Gotta sit there and wait him out...

5. Steel trap + Bait.

PRO: Would work just fine.
CON: Local laws may prohibit trapping or permits may be required.

I know we have some hunters/trappers up in here.

MP5?

YLifter?

Any suggestions?

That looks like Wodin's feet. :mix:

Those feet tracks are cute though. ;)

Cute my ass, you realize how hard it is to keep a pool clean?

No less someone throwing dirt in to it!!!

Get a live trap, trap him and take him to the woods and release him. No need to kill a little guy just because he likes your pool.

Raccoon....1 live trap, add 1 can of sardines....give it two maybe three nights....Problem solved.

Ranger

Live traps for a Raccoon sized animal runs around 50$, sardines per can...maybe 75 cents.

I forgot to mention that I have seen a possum running through the backyard at night.

He seems to cross from one side to the other along the back fence.

What is the varmint after? Roots, worms, grubs?

I'm betting on possum, cause they dig more than coons.
I put in a flower bed and a possum came thru and rooted it completly out of the ground,
ate the flower roots. They grub for worms and beetles. Caution, their claws are sharp.

From the looks, it is a raccoon, a raccoon's front paws will look almost like a human hand,an Opossum will appear to have had the thumb broken as it will almost point towards the rear....From the pics, it looks like a coon, but as they are both varmits, not to mention scavengers at will...you probally have both from time to time...

If you have armadillos around there, I'll bet ya that's what it is. Those fuckers root around like pigs. They also carry leprosy though, so don't handle it, even though the chances of getting the disease are pretty slim.

X-diddy

can I come over and swim bro? lol
I miss my inground pool lost it when I got divoriced a few yrs back.
:(

Damn that little phucker made a big mess of your pool!
looks like a coon paw.

I didn't see the photo of the tracks. Yeah, that does look like a raccoon.

Never mind with the armadillo comment.

Armidillo's would also leave a shell drag, as well as a tail drag....We ate the fuck out of them when I was in the field....ate so many we took to calling them " Possum on a half-shell" .... Heh heh heh

Ranger

they are digging for grubs and earthworms more then likely, i would prefer to use my armalite for such an occasion....now if i could only locate a suppressor for it...

Damn. :worried: Bragging rights, for sure. I grew up in the sticks, but never ate an armadillo.

I think I am gonna purchase one of the traps and try and catch this little SOB('s) without killing them.

However, if I catch that little asswipe in the pool, it's all over!

:chesty:

NO!!!

This is what you do.
Since he obviously wants quality time with your pool,
Set out the trap.
Catch the pecker,
then throw the cage in the pool!
problem solved.

or you can UPS it to ranger and he can make you stew.

..Digging...
They love rooting for roots. We have a few deep holes on our property. Hope they don't choose to setup residence poolside...

Are you in the Deep South ? Tex - Fl - Ga etc...
I've never seen a Rcoon dig and especially throw dirt like that.
That's why I'm thinking a Dillo.

If you wanna whack it you need to be out there Late Late at night. Like 1-3 am or so.

If you wanna trap it put out a Live trap baited with some Fruit or Veggies like carrots etc...

They won't hurt you and are Stupid.. Watch the claws though

If it's a Racoo, be careful cause they will tear you up if cornered.
Possums are another nasty but they generally don't dig and throw dirt like that.

Check the claws on the Dillo. This is what he does best.. DIG !

Be a man like Steve the "Crock Hunter" sneak up on the phucker and pick it up like a basketball and slam dunk it into the concreate.
:D

I just got off the phone with the SPCA in the county that I live in and they are 95% sure it's an armidillo.

Also, they will rent me the trap to catch it with for a mere $2 / day.

Anyone know what a dillo's favorite food is?

Pics will be taken, of the capture, incarceration and release.

I trapped for 12 years until it was banned in Colorado. In that time i have caught skunks, muskrats, beaver, coyotes, racoons, bobcat, and pine marten. I sure miss it. I have never seen an armadillo. I think i would just get out the spotlight at night and shine his ass, and feed him some lead with a 12 guage. Problem solved. I could not see the tracks in your post so i cannot tell you what it is digging. Skunks will dig too FYI.

did you ever get him "it" yet?

He hasn't returned to the scene of the crime.

Also, I found a breach in the perimeter of my fence. Gotta secure that little problem right up.
