Humans - The weakest animal

Do anyone of you think that through evolution we have become weaker and weaker and less efficient insofar as survival is concerned. With the advances of technology and knowledge, humans have obviously become more mentally adept. Which brings an interesting point up, does mind power compensate for a lack of physical prowess? It's necessarily survival, because weaker people are a majority. So the weaker person(s) would have to be smarter, cunning, to outsmart the strong.

man uses tools. actually primates use tools, but man is the most adept at it.
we have gotten to the point where the more intelligent members are making tools for the less intelligent ones to use - that way more of us survive - so that way one no longer has to be the smartest or strongest to survive, they just have to be affiliated with the smart or the strong.

Its an individual thing to be honest. Folks who watch Jerry Springer for example definitely qualify. peace

we have opposable thumbs

without this evolutionary jump, the males of the species would have gone insane :D they are also quite useful for shaping tools and stuff

humans are one of the few animals with a remarkable ability to adapt and use other resources as tools (animals, wood, metal....)

physically, we had a superior competitor in the form of neandertal (i cant spell it) and we whupped them by hunting in packs, making better tools for killing...

as a species we do have drawback to our bodies (cant make all our own vitamins so have to eat them, dont heal as well as other creatutres etc) but we have found ways round them.

Do you think the essence of our species has faded? It has surely evolved.

slowly....it is changing but v.slowly

when we first graced this rock we pretty much hunted everything we could find, and after we killed everything edible in one area we moved on :)

we have conservationists now etc but the ones with the real power are still motivated by this need to hoarde and plunder so if we have changed its very slight

in terms of the human will to survive, maybe. Jihad's and wars dont exactly help matters. haviong said that with a population pushing 6 billion, it wont make a huge difference

I think I'd have to break my spine too. And have a tongue about 13 inches long. Then maybe......

yeah.....but then again with a 13" toungue you woundnt ever need to suck ur own dick now would u :D

All species of animals make strives for something. I'm not sure if humans were power hungry back then, perhaps they were for leadership; however now everything is based around power and control.

well in terms of nature males were always striving to be the alpha male so they could go knock up some female a few hundred times (which would be fun)

ultimately that may be why men work so hard in the business place today subconciously, in an effort to achieve sucess and live in comfort but also to be able to attract a desirable mat

it may also explain why human women folk choice of men can sometimes be questionable ;)

Purely philosophical and unsexist; Do you think females have disbanded their traditional role and infact have become more "equal" insofar as domineering and the urge to coherce.

hmmm

in the muslim world, and possibly other cultures to no......iraq used to be matriachal apparently and now it isnt, women have less than equal rights

here.....yes....they have become more domineering, and enjoy being able to have a foot in each boat as they will always have certain courtesies extended to them but also the ability to move away from this tradtional image at their choice

in terms of national policy, they possibly have less effect (less women in political power) but in day to day life certainly
