just watched a special on "BILL" a U.S. skiier who won gold for this country. He crashed on the slopes, and nearly died. At the time he was the best skiier in the world. Now he has severve brain damage and can barely remember who he is or his past life.
In 8 months he has fought back to relearn basic words and even do basic skiing again. He carried the torch into the Olympic stadium for these games.

So if your life ever seems down, or unfair...think of people like Bill...who aspires to Ski in the games again and is fighting on.

My 12 year old son always inspires me when it comes to having spirit. He broke his back doing gymnastics after winning gold metals and first all arounds. He refuse to quit, the doctors said his back would never heal, because the bone area where he broke his back will always remain soft. He went thru rehab and then returned to gymnastics, stating that he would some day go to the Olympic's. Started winning gold metals again and broke his leg. I said son, find a safer sport and he said dad, I am not quiting , injuries are part of this sport. He's now back competing nationaly again. Sometimes he has no skin on his hands, due to the big rips he gets while doing gymnastics. What a tough little boy. Makes me proud to be his dad.

dayam.. your son's a tough mofo..

HI.. did you see that guy though? shortly after his wreck.. like that day or week after.. did you see how out of shape he was? i'm thinkin that he wasn't even near in good enough shape to be trying what he was trying.. but he'd lost all hope anyway.. lost a kid.. divorced from his wife.. i really think he shouldn't have been on the slopes that day... not trying what he was anyway..

not to say i don't feel bad for him.. but that shit happens everday to people who weren't even making bad decisions or mistakes.. but from others' mistakes.. those are the folks i feel bad for.. like a friend of mine who was hit by a drunk driver.. and is basically the same as that skier is now.. why don't they do a special on him..???
