Human Resources question

How much info can your company give to a third party?

For instance: can someone call up and verify that you are being transferred out of state? Or just that you are still employed?

Are there state to state differences?

if they are issued a court supeona.. they can pretty much say anything they want.

It happens a lot when people are trying to ditch child suporrt payments.. scumbags.

OK...... that is not the issue here.

Think more along the lines of breaking an apartment lease.

Wow. But thanks for the reponse.

unless ordered by a court, they should not give out any information about you except for a simple yes or no answer to the question "are you employed by them" that's it.

most times they can only confirm any info they are provided ..like the person calling the Company would have to tell them what they know and the company would tell them only certain items ..they can not volunteer your info…and it can only pertain to company stuff like are you still employed and what your job title is ..start date ..things like that ..anything more they would need your permission

but the truth is it would depend on the person who answered the phone ..if they are train right you are ok if not they will tell them anything

If you have signed a borrower's authorization form, they can disclose that information. For example, if you were trying to buy a house, the lender would verify your employment to ensure you were, in fact being transferred. If what you put on your loan application was false information, you could have loan fraud charges (fed. offense) filed.

all they can say is yes so and so works here.

Not true. They can say if so and so has the likelyhood of staying employed (temp or permanent, not performance related), they can disclose income, most things work related. They can't disclose write-ups or anything like that, but in regards to employment and income, they can.

I think he is breaking his lease by telling them he is getting transferred ...and is worried about them following up on it ...jnevin you must be in the mortgage game ... I am too so thought the exact same thing when I read the post ..and yes with a borrower's authorization form they can ask just about anything
