Has anyone tried using an HPLC machine to detemine the purity/concentration of their gear? I was using this machine at my university today and i was discussing "theoretical" applications with my professor and i asked her if i could bring in some samples of stuff to practice using this machine. Anyway, i guess my question is if you have tried to use this machine for gear purposes how were your results and do you have any recomendations or suggestions.

I don't think you know much about HPLC.

You would actually need some pure form of what you were testing to calibrate the machine. Say you injected 1 microlitre into machine you would previously needed to have injected say 10 samples each with 10,20 30% etc. of the drug in, so that you can make a relative reading.
For example, say you wanted to test papervar, you'd need to cal machine first with 100% pure var. If you know and have this then, my bad.

as long as you have a known concentration then yes, you can use it. it doesnt have to be 100%

go chat to your analytical chem teacher on how to make the molecule fit to be analysed

youll get a few hints by looking at some of the lab reports posted in this forum- off the top of my head there was a primo thread a few days ago

cheers

Thats what i meant, you said it better "known concentration". But I think its doubtful that you'll have a known conc of juice in your labs or even be able to get hold of it.

true enough

depending on your equipment though, you might be able to get away without calibrating the batch. there are some nifty ones which arent too disgustingly erronous just using a template..

thanks guys, actually you are correct i dont know very much about using this machine and yesterday was the first time i actually used it. I know about calibrating it against the pure but i was told that I didnt actually have to have the pure substance just the template of how it is supposed to be with the HPLC. My chem teacher is actually all for helping me test different things because she is so happy that someone is actually taken a true interest. Ha i just wanna be able to do tests on UG gear.

I might eventually send the sample away to get it tested and then use my hplc machine and see how off i was. Thanks for the idea GD
If it wasnt for AAS i dont think i would have done so well in chem. For instance, my freshman year year when i first used the thomas-hoover everyone was like, " damn this is boring" i was like kick ass now i can do the melting points of this UG dbol i have in my pocket. Then came along the gas chromotagraph trying to relate it to gear. Then came organic structure, i would go onto chem finder at night and practice drawing different anabolic steroids with different functional groups. And ofcourse the time i brought home the buchner filtering flask with vacuum attachment to filter my homemade tren quicker. Then there was using the infrared spec and my applications on analyzing winny caps...... So i just want to say thank you AAS for making me be a better student.
