my kids left the lid of their hamster cage open and that damn rat got out, he could be ANYWHERE...........how do u catch a rat?

Same thing happened to me. I put my Hamster, The Beast, in a little ball he can run around in. Anyway, the top of the ball came off and he was running around in the air conditioning ducts for three days. I put some food in his little cup and put it in the middle of the floor and turned the lights off. When I came back he was sitting on top of it and I picked him up and put him back in the cage.

Ffactor is right. Lights out and food. When I was a kid my hamster got out and hid behind a wall sized bookcase. I left a trail of peanuts going behind the bookcase. He would come and pick them up one at a time. When he got close enough to the end of the bookcase I grabbed him. They're sneaky little buggers.

You will find him at night, when everything is quiet you will hear him moving around.

I've done Chiba's reccomendation. The glue trap works, and vegetable oil to remove him from the glue. Or you can call over hamstershaver and remove him with a razor.
