How to say "No thank you but..." ?

I've from time to time a email from staffing agencies for an opportunity corresponding to my experience and I usually answer that I'm not looking for another job right now

But I've called back a recruitment consultancy company last week and told the guy that I was very interested in his opportunity
Just to see what happens
He calls again and says that his client is interested
So he wants to see me for an interview
But i don't want to, not now

How can I tell him that I'm no longer interested by this job w/o being a dick (I may look for another job in a few weeks) ?

change ur phone number or dont answer ur phone
its because you feel pressured right now
and dont let them do it

tell them you got a raise unexpectedly and that the situation has just changed or something

actually you shouldn't lie, it's bad

a) you shouldn't fuck with any potential coworker/colleague/clients like that - you never know
b) don't use the raise excuse - how many professionals do you know that get a raise without ever expecting it? not many. I say go with something like what Bran said - your situation has changed a little at work, but don't close the door on possibly getting together with these peeps. Just buy some time.

Well where i work we get our performnce reviews and raise at the beginning of the year..so that would affect my decision on interviewing for a new job..

But on the other hand would it really hurt to go look at this new possibility? you never know.. it might be worth your time to actually go check it out

go for the interview, impress the hell out of them, get the job.

then back out.

That could be great, but you'll be put on the "black list"
