How not to Drive a Corvette - Video Included

The great American sports car.

Cool as hell to look at - completely worthless to race.

Congratulations on posting one of the top 100 most stupid quotes of the year.

I agree %100

Those cars are natural racers. That guy just floored it too much and lost the rear and it fishtailed on him. Lack of driver experience but that's what he's there for. It's an obvious SCCA track with cones. People shouldn't of been standing by because you know they are rookie drivers learning to race their car.

A corvette would get bitched through the curves by any quality european sports car.
Americans still can't build a car that handles well, probably because your roads are all straight and you race on an oval.

I won't argue...but you and mannick seem to be in some sort of competition for warped views.

How is it warped?
If you put a Corvette up against a Ferrari 355 or a 360 or a 550, or a Porsche 911, or Lotus, or a BMW M-coupe then frankly it would just be out handled. Granted it *may* be faster in a straight line but that is not the be all and end all, as you would realise if you drove on the roads in europe.

LMAO!

Let's see here folks, a $150,000 car vs a $42,000 car... Gee I wonder which one is expected to win?

Post a car in it's price class and Corvette wins hands down. The Z06 version even whoops up on Fords own Factory racer Mustang R.

If you want to compare euro-trash cars then go ahead, but keep the price levels the same. By that means Those cars are crap compared to an F-1.. Not really in the same class my man. 5th Gen vettes are very capable cars in the hands of the right drivers. If I remember correctly the Corvette R Won lemans against all the other European cars. What now tuff guy?! ;)

This entire post took the words right out of my mouth. Stupid assholes compare apples to oranges by bringing up cars that are triple the price of a Vette and talk shit.

And it's true, there was certain American bowtie crossing the finish line before all those pricey european cars. Case closed.

Cobra is only 390HP....I'm a ford guy but I still think the Vette will cream it. Though, there still is a signifigant price difference.

american cars suck, my friend had a mustang and it was piece of shit. cheesey seats and dash board not to mention it drank gas and handled like complete shit. lets see a nice vette/mustang or an m3. only white trash would pick the vette/mustang.

Not sure that I'm white trash, but I would opt for a car that is bad ass over pretty.

I am not sure about your definition of white trash but what I have always considered "white trash" could afford neither a vette or mustang.....late model anyway.

It's good to see that you'd choose american. Rock on brother trash.

Um, first off, 69Muscle, wtf are you talking about? In LeMans there are no standard, road-going cars competing (who the hell cares anyway about who won that, we're talking about the better handling road-going cars). And second, I could name a dozen european and japanese cars that would thrash the vette and mustang in the 'handling' category completely - and they are in the same friggin price range. Now remember, in Europe: A vette will cost more than an Audi S4, M3, Impreza Turbo Euro Spec or a Mitsu GT3000. And all these spinners will fuck the vette up badly on a curvy and narrow road. You can say whatever you want to, but the japs and the europeans make better handling cars. Period! The americans on the other hand, make comfortable and often luxurious cars. Now, of course there are exceptions, like Riley&Scott, Shelby and various american tuners that will make the Mustang kick major european butt - on any roadtype. Then again, the germans do have their tuners... Hehe...

European:
Lotus Elise, Porsche Boxster, BMW M3, BMW M5, TVR Cerbera, TVR Tuscan, Audi S3, S4, TT

Japanese:
Impreza WRX, Mitsubishi Evo VII, Nissan Skyline GTR

All these cars are in a similar or lower price bracket than the vette, all of them will bitch slap it on a twisty road. (Tuscan may be a little high in price).
I'm not denying that the vette is fast and powerful and badass but it will get out handled by all these cars.

68GT350.

Blow me. Sideways.

What I know about racing cars is, admittedly, little - but you're comments rank a little higher on the top 100.

Similar price range - how about a Mitsubishi 3000GT? Oh wait - that's all wheel drive, so it's not a fair comparison.

Do I like the looks of a Corvette, yes. But its strength lies in drag racing straight aways - not a roads course.

How many of these cars have you driven??

Oh, I am so sorry, my fault. You'll have to excuse me if the kick-ass japanese GT3000 (which CAN be delivered with front wheel drive, known as the GTO, jap.ver. non-exportable) will kick that fat-ass american Vette in almost every spec category. I'm truly sorry.

Anyway. Now I got to go. Have a nice weekend. And drive safely everyone. LOL.

My dreams are still...

Chevrolet Suburban
Corvette
Harley Davidson

I really don't care how they handle on the drag strip or the race track...I don't plan to race them. I can get a Vette for about 40-45k...much cheaper than I can get any other car that I like.

Can they be beaten, sure I am sure they can. Would I drive a 3000GT, BMW, Audi, etc...? Nope. I love Corvettes. Taken the plant tour a few times...and the museum...they ARE born in Kentucky:)

I have never heard of half these cars (most aren't sold in the US), but I have a hard time believing they are going to beat a C5 Vette in any category. Of course, I could be wrong, maybe they hold better on the skidpad, but that's about it. The C5 is light years ahead of the C4, and dollar for dollar in the States, it is the best value there is.

p.s. I have a 3000GT, and unless they have done something to it since it was discontinued in the states, it won't scare a Vette, it is far too heavy. Having said that, it still moves, and turns more heads than a Vette, which are a dime a dozen in Motown.

I would have to concur with your statement.

Unless you are talking of a turbo charged 3 Grand, the stock model would have its' doors blown by a decent vette.

I still wish to own a vette someday.

Ok, first of all, you're a complete moron. You have this huge hard-on for a fucking 3000GT but those cars are surprisingly terrible handlers for an AWD. Read any review or any cars enthusiasts evaluation on it.

A Vette will shit all over a 3000GT but that's not even a fair comparison since the Mit. is old technology. Let's compare apples to apples shall we?

Next, on a twisty road, it will take an experienced driver since the Vette is a rear wheel driven vehicle with TONS of torque but it is THE finest handling car that Chevy has ever created. This is taking into account the sheer power that either the LS1 or LS6 (for the Z06) engine produces. On second thought, any 405 HP car should only be driven by an experienced driver.

Besides, who fucking races on a winding road anyways??? It's all about the quarter mile, bitches.
