How not to do a snowmobile trip...

Man did things ever go wrong today. The wind gusts yesterday were up to 60 mph so the snow was pretty weird. Wind piles up snow that is as think as a cloud. You try to climb that...you are fucked. You don't know you are in it until it is too late.

I had to cut down a tree, use a rope, walk in a creek bed with water and ice, got a little lost, a piece fell off of my hood when the sled was almost upside down. I got stuck a lot and they were really bad stucks. Took all the technique, equipment, and strenght I had.

Serious off trail riders will carry:
extra gloves
light sleeping bag
flashlight
GPS
saw
space blankets
shovel
tool kit
manual winch
strong rope
snow shoes
matches
extra gas
duct tape
straps on the luggage rack....saved my ass many times today
band to hold down throttle when engine is flooded from being upside down or sideways
mountain bar
2" track

I think I'm getting too old for this stuff. I am beat!

where are you going?

and you never said what part of co you are from? is it greeley (sp)? i sure hope not, that place was a fucking shit hole.

I live outside of Denver. Trip was at Vail Pass today. Thought I might have to walk out a few times. Hard to do when the boots are rated for -40 degrees. They are giant marshmellows.

Even got my suit caught in the track, lucky it did not rip!

Sometimes I wonder if adventure is worth it.:alien:
