How much sugar for sufficient insulin release?

Is there an minimum amount of sugar you should consume after a workout to release insulin.... and on the flipside, is there a maximum amount not to exceed?

I was makin syrup shakes not too long ago, used mrs. butterworths, 1/2 cup. 120 grams of pure natural sugar. I gained like crazy, but after a month or so I started getting real fat, so i stopped, but ill do it again in a few weeks. Too much? Id say anything over 100 is overkill, but then again it oculd be an individual thing, so i dont know.

i hear ya, mike. the last thing i want to do is get fat.... i've been killing like a cranberry juice or a gatorade w/ some l-glutamine right after the workout but i'm not sure if i'm cutting myself short w/ only 30-40g.

like methyl said, its an individual thing. any amounts of carbs will release insulin bro. the factors influencing how much depends on your genetics, the amounts of carbs, and the types of carbs. whether high glyemic or low. th test they use to measure insulin response in diabetics is 75g of dextrose if that helps any.
