how much protein to MAINTAIN size

T-800

New member
when i wanted to put on muscle and lose fat, i ate about 1.25+ grams of protein per my pound of weight a day. now i just want to maintain what i have. i don't want to get bigger muscles but i don't want to lose what i have either. since it costs me kind of a lot to buy the protein powders, i want to eat the least amount of protein and still maintain my muscles.

does anyone know how much?

thanks

You can probably get away with eating 1 gram for each pound of lean body mass. So if you weigh 200 lbs and have 10% bodyfat, thats 180lbs of lean mass. So 180 grams of protein a day should be enough.

in my opinion all you need is to set your calories at maint level, and make sure you are getting enough carbs so that your body does not use protien for energy.

That could be any amout of protien.. i would start with 1 gram/lb though.

If your eating a caloric deficit protein isn't going to help you.
