The cost is like 500 or so. I have no clue - that and the Limo driver, Minister.... etc etc

I don't think that's so bad. It is Canadian and is the second or third cheapest DJ I could find.

If he sucks then low, but what if he is the shizzle on the nizzle?

DJ?
Minister?
Limo Driver?

minister is $100.

i would'nt tip the dj.

limo driver, depend on if you will use him again, his service, etc. 10% is a good baseline.

Tip him. If you hired a decent one, he will work his ass off. Lot's of heavy shit to move and lights too.

I helped a friend who is a dj when he was hired by a local hoity-toity private high school (in a ritzy part of town) to do their senior prom. I had no idea what to expect , but while I was relaxing watching how much work he had to do I noticed that not just one, or two, but three of the hottest chicks were beavin' me! That's right there were no drawls to be found on these girls. They kept doing a kinda limbo move right towards me and flashing thier boxes. Oh, it was just horrible... Just kidding - it was very, very cool....

I don't see the point in tipping honestly. I do it to not seem like a dick but frankly I don't see the point.

I ask for a quote and I get a price. Logically, that price = how much it costs for the person to perform the service + a profit. Do you tip the cashier at the grocery store? That's why I like the resort packages we sell at my job - no tipping is allowed at the resorts.

Tipping = a practice conceived by employers too cheap to pay their employees fairly so they have to pass the burden on to the customers who would mindlessly pay 15-20% more for a tip but wouldn't pay 15-20% more for a meal if that were the price.

man, the dj my sister wants for her wedding is like 1300, and the motherfucker wants half of the money at signing and the other half a week before the wedding. sounds like a scam if you ask me, but no one listens to me, because they ont want to upset my stupid fucking sister.

Bro that's insane. I assume at this price he's bringing his own sound system. Well still, it's overpriced. A DJ with its turntables/mixers, especially for a wedding when you already exactly the shit he's gonna play (ABBA, YMCA, Grease....) is not worth more than 400-500$ max.

Tiping is not a city in China

You should reserve tiping for those services that are typically low wage per hour.
Food/drink Servers, haircut, taxi, porters, cabin stewards...

Tip him only if he goes above and beyond what you would expect him to do.. Break the $500 INTO HOW MANY HOURS HOURS HE WILL BE WORKING BEFORE/DURING/AFTER THE WEDDING.
How much per hour is that ?
Deduct the estimated cost of his equipment maintenance and he is likely making a good hourly rate.

No tip required, unless as stated above..
