How much $ do you spend on food per week?

I am sick of spending a bunch of cash on my groceries every week. My average is $80 every week just for me. I dont eat out at all though.

About 50bucks.
2lbs of Oatmeal
35 bucks worth of chicken and beef
6lbs of frozen vegtables
4.5lbs of cottage cheese.

That's all I buy... every week. I should have 6%bf.

I spend ~ $700 a week on food.

$100 a day.

I eat out 21 meals a week.

How do you eat out that much without getting fat? I spend about 150$ per week for my daughter and I. She eats as much as I do.

AM cardio
PM weights

That's all there is to it.

I actually eat relatively healthy - no fast food, no real shit. I eat expensive meals, that's all.

How the fuck do all of you live on < $200 a week of food?

Seriously.

I know I eat like a King, it;s my reward to myself for hundred hour work weeks. Iknow I over-do it with upscale dining.

But even if I wanted to back it off a little (I don't) I could not imagine spending under $200 (much less $100) per week.

Damn!

simple. no eating out.

you eat 6 or so times a day. 2 meals are protein shakes of some sort (breakfast and post workout, usually, for convenience sake) which cost, about a dollar each. the remaining four meals consist of some decent carb source (rice, which costs all of 20 cents if youre lucky) plus some highish quality protein source (i go for reef fish, beef usually veal, and chicken breast fillet) which is going to cost maybe 2 bucks per meal, then some salad (which, if you get the ultimate vegetables on offer at the store, is only going to cost another couple of dollars per meal if that)

and there you go. personally i eat in a lot becasue im a food snob - i like the best cuts of meat and really good quality vegetables - and im a bit of a homebody anyway :)

Breakfast:
1c Oatmeal (always plain with water)
1 can tuna (I buy 2 15packs every month)

Snack:
Chicken breast
1/2c Oatmeal

Pre-workout meal:
1/2c Oatmeal
Protein shake

Post workout:
2 serving protein shake
Chicken/lean beef
Big ass bowl of frozen vegs microwaved

Snack:
1/2lb of Cottage Cheese

Before bed:
1 or 2 tbsp of natural peanut butter (I buy one every week, forgot about that)

im going to cut my spending down to 45-75 dollars a week i just have to learn how to cook. eating out everyday is rediculously expensive

totally worth it though. :)

Wow, I guess $80 a week isn't that bad. I don't know how some of you spend $200 a week. I'm a tightwad though. I used to enjoy a few starbucks a week, then I cut those out after I added up a monthly coffee bill. Maybe I will treat myself to a few meal out a week.

yea i know but if im blowing 800-1000 bux a month on food then i can be having a new car or hummer truck. think about it..

I hear you bor, it is about priorities and what is important. I took care of all that other shit, now food is one of my favorite expenses. :)

What I really want, is a live-in chef....like where I give him a menu on Saturday, and he shops for all the ingredients for all the meals I want M-F.

That's the way to do it.

I was just thinking about this today as I was coming out of the grocery store with my cart full of food like I do every weekend.

For 2 adults and 1 child, I spend anywhere from 75-150 a week depending on what it's the cart. I try to choose what's on sale over what's not on sale, but I also do not cut coupons. Im thinking of starting to though. We dont really make a habit of eating out. For the most part, I even pack a lunch for both of us to take to work in the morning.

Groceries = ~100 + ~25 for eating lunch out sometimes = ~125

truth is bor, I hate cooking. Hate it. I hate the kitchen. Kitchen are for women, bor, I don't care how much hate I get on that, men do not belong in the kitchen.

Getting the kitchen ready, fucking around with food, measuring shit, throwing it in various cooking apparatuses (is that a word?) all that shit.

Then you get to eat, then cleaning up.

WTF? Cleaning up? into the dishwasher, putting it away, etc. Not in my world. I'll eat taco bell 3x a day before I cook.

Question about egg whites. Can I buy them in any grocery store? (in a carton or something?) Does it taste good? How much? Can I cook them in a microwave?

I buy them in a carton that looks like those egg beaters. They are liquid egg whites. I wouldn't make an omlet out of them but I put some in my protien shake.

Why wouldn't you eat them in an omlette?

Yes Beachbum, they can be bought in a carton at your grocery store, you can cook the in a pan, or in the mircowave. Here they're about $2.50 for 500ml (8 egg whites). And they taste just like a regular egg white.

HardHat87 said:
I think they are pre cooked, it says on the box you can add it without cooking

They're pre-cooked yet in liquid form?

You better check what you're eating!

HardHat87 said:

I do, and I have to cook the, because they are raw.

If an egg white is in liquid form, it hasn't been cooked.
