How much can you tell your doctor????

How much can you tell your doctor? If you are having pain, or you think something is messed up from AS you go to the doctor. Now, how much can you tell them and what are the consequences?

there is a code of ethics amongst doctors. a great deal of this ethics deals with confidentiality. most doctors (naturally there are some unethical bastards), can be told anything about your life, especially if it will aid in a diagnosis of your problem. if your pain or medical condition involves AS, it must be told to the doctor. im not saying to go start telling jokes about juice or stories about when you broke a needle in your ass or when you stole a box of pins from his office while you were waiting, but the doc needs to know what is going on with your body in order to help you.
confidentiality deals with the authorities as well, so if your worried about your doctor running to the nearest cop, that should settle your fears a bit. i wouldnt say there are many consequences other than your doctor discussing the various side effects of juice and blah blah blah. worst case scenario could be the doc referring you to another's medical care, because he doesn't know enough about AS, or doesnt feel that he can stay within his ethical boundaries.
chances are, if you do indeed have 21 inch arms, your doc probably knows whats going on, remember they goto school for many many many years...theyre not dumbasses.

Just tell him the truth, what the hell is he going to do to you, put you over his knee and spank you? He is bound by confidentiality. If you do not tell him what you are doing how is he going to treat you? Use your head.

YOu got the wrong idea, I get checked up every other month and I have a special doctor. Everything you say can be put in your medical records, I was just wondering if anyone has had a bad experience at the docs from saying to much?

Yeppers, it all goes down in their little note book. That's what you are to them, bits of writing in a notebook. I can't go for the career I want because I told him I had took steroids in the past. This is termed 'steroid abuse' and any medical forms he has to sign he is legally obliged to put it down.

tell them what you want. Whether they'll listen is another thing. Usually they hear what they want to hear.

There have been numerous <successful> lawsuits regarding disclosure of confidential information.Trust me,I have worked in a doctor's office as well as hospitals, and your doctor may not disclose any information about you, particularly that regarding drug use, sexual preference, infectious diseases(except those listed by the CDC as dangerous to the public welfare, like tuberculosis)Your doctor will not call the authorities,or your mother,if you are a minor.Trust me,whatever you tell him,he's heard before, especially if he is a sports medicine doc like the one I used to work for.

my doctor knows that i use gear. i tell him everything that i do.........he has me come in for regular check-ups once a month while im on. and every 3 months when im off. i never lie to him.........he is my doctor and he is there to help me out.......... know matter what.
