I've never had a dependable workout partner. I work out alone all the time now. If I'm going super heavy, then I'll just ask one of my friends in the gym to spot me. I really think I get more pumped working out alone...maybe I'm just weird.

I have never had a workout partner. IMO solo work is the most efficient and allows the greatest concentration. A cage solves spotting problems working at home.

Toothless is one hell of a partner, just looking up at him gumming at me while I am benching gets me motivated!

Actually I work out with my chick now, but I think I do better alone cause I can pump up the intensity more for some reason.

Haven't had a partner in about 3 years.

Now I find I lift better on my own, than if a buddy wants to tag along and "hit the gym" because he figures one day will get him pumped up for the weekend.

I always have worked out solo, with headphones on and tunnel vision...I never chat unless I get trapped by some over-talkitive human, but sometimes I'll need a spot for chest dumbell presses or db military presses.

never had a partner, eariy on i did but he mostly watched me and pissed about with the leg curl machine, but he only came for 2 weeks then started making excuses.

i like the solitude

at my new gym occasionally some dude might just jump in and help me with reps....its actually freaky when someone does that

also as a result of non partner i had to use the smith machine for many months until i joined a new gym and ive always used dumbells on the more lethal movements :)

I have worked out alone for a year and a half. I get great pumps and workout in half the time. THere are some days though when a partner could help motivate you.

I actually don't like using headphones...I feel disconnected...like I can't concentrate. I like to listen to music before I go to the gym though.

On average I work out alone half the time. I like it better in certain ways(always having a spot if needed), and less in others (hard to concentrate if their talking to ya)

I have a workout partner who only likes to use machines and dumbbells... so yes, I do work out alone.

working out alone is better. i hate working out with other people. i always have to take off half the weight for them to be able to work in with me.

I do sometimes lets say 50% of the time, but I must admit that its kindda eaiser with someone....

Maybe so....but really...how hard is it taking off those 5's?

Lately. . . yeah cus of the time I go to the gym (right around after lunch hour) (all friends still in class)

Little to no waiting time for ish

AT home alone....my iron, my time, my way, with no one in the way.

Cleaner does this so he can do squats on a sybian to midgit porn.

I work out alone, I've only had one semi reliable workout partner in the past five years.

Been working out alone now for about 3 years. I workout at 4:30 am, so it is just me and the owner. If I need a spot, I will ask him.

Off topic, but why the fuck do some people not know how to spot? Is their some fascination with touching the bar for every single one of my reps. I mean fuck...I will tell when to help. I trust only one person to spot me and that is it.

I work out with a trainer...I use him for motivation. It's basically like working out alone because I don't have to switch weights with anyone, but I still have the moral support.

Only had 1 workout partner ever and made awsome gains, but he moved to Dallas area and now I work out alone. I find it to hard to find a workout partner that has the same goals and schedule as me to even bother with looking. I make good gains working out alone, it all comes down to the intensity you put in to the workout.

I work out alone yet have enough people I see every day at the Gym to feel comfortable asking for help or a Spot.

If you can find a WO partner that has the same Schedule, Goals and close to the same intensity and strength as you, it means competition against each other and great gains.
Otherwise either you are waiting on them or changing weights too much or they are doing the same with you

i work out with a partner on chest days and some leg days, i like to work out alone because i listen to music and i am always concentrating on my workouts not someone else but i do it for chest because of safety and i like to be better than my partner so i try to do more reps than him on legs so it gets me to workout harder...

peace

I do my own routine but there are people in the gym that will spot me when needed.

i have worked out alone since the beginning, its going on three years now,i wish i had someone dependable to help me,i jsut use db's so i dont fuck myself up when i need to drop em

I only work out with someone on chest day and get a helper when pressing dumbbells on shoulder days. Couldn't find a responsible partner so I just resolved to going about alone.

I drink alone too

I haven't had a training partner in years. Even then it was for only a few weeks. Some things are better that way.

Same set-up as Frackal - headphones & tunnel vision.

Of my two workout buddies - one moved to L.A. and the other is 70 miles away. So that leaves me to do my lifting solo - aside from a spot on bench here or there.

peace

I used to have a good workout partner.... but he move out of state:(

Now I go to the gym with my wife, but then we spilt ways.... and I workout alone.

I trained with a trainer last fall doing insane drop sets and to failure, being able to only limp out of the gym after it all. But when I had to travel and train alone, I realized how dependent I had become on his type of partner training. I prefer training alone because I'm not worrying about a sicko partner not letting me stop when I'm ready to drop or yelling at me to hustle to the next exercise or whatever. Kinda pushes that fine line between motivation & irritation. As far as a lifting buddy, I try to keep my set intervals to 30-45 sec. I get pissed off, but am nice about it, if someone asks to work in with me.

So, on go the headphones and off goes the smile -- time for pain!

Always alone. I don't like to talk at all when I lift. I have had a couple of friends come out and lift with me a time or two because they wanted to get bigger and stronger. They don't last but a day or two and they can't hang.

Can't hang hmmm?? Well that's cuz you never lifted with me young jedi....your time is coming.

As for me...pretty much the same. I lift alone. I have had people come to train with me...but they never last. If a training partner is slowing you down...cut him loose.

Besides a Power Rack is the greatest training partner in the world. Always there when you need it...and never asks stupid questions.

I've tried to work out with my friends before................ain't gonna happen. All they wanna do is talk, and not work out properly :(
So yeah, I work out by myself.

Hannibal: well well...c'mon up to the Bluegrass State!!! Guess I'll be seeing you shortly anyways:)

When you have a training partner and he does not show up, you feel lost. Been there.

So solo all the way.

Now you know that your little "fitness center" garage can't hold the two of us. When we get done with it there won't be much left...

I hope you are seeing me shortly though...don't want you to get too attached to my new reverse hyper machine :)

Hannibal: Can't wait to get my hands on your reverse hyper. Figured I could at least use it till after my contest in October:) Ha ha.

Fitness Center? Hey...when your little asylum gets an atlas stone, a 700+lb tire, thick bars, you start pulling your car uphill, and you use a pair of 55gallon drums to squat out of...then you can call my gym a fitness center:)

Yeah well you have a fan...even if it only works half the time. And what's with the air freshener that I saw in one of your gym pics...a gym should smell like sweat...not a forest.

Ha ha...I love my fan:) Sorta works every once in a while. The air freshner...that was tied to the rope to the attic. I tore it down a while back because I kept running into it.

My gym smells like trash a lot. Too bad we have to keep the trash in the same space as where I train. It does have it's good side though. If you run out of ammonia caps..you can just stick your nose really close to the trash can and it'll get you going:)

I need to work out alone. If it's not at my pace and the excercise I wanna do then the whole thing sucks.

My workout time is sacred to me. It's just me with my headphones on thinking to myself and concentrating on growing for that hour. I love it too much for it to be intruded upon.

Everyone will spend a considerable amount of time working out alone.

The will power needed to get of your arse and go and lift weights day in day out doesn't rely on having a partner or someone to accompany you each time.

A bit of encouragement is always welcome though.

almost always alone, but have had some workout partners in the past. It went okay with them, but not as intense, they liked to turn the gym into a hangout spot

Whiskey

alone. all the partners i have had have been motivated to train with me after seeing me train hard alone, and get good results...then they slow your workout to hell because they arent used to lifting heavy and hard

havnt had a partner in....3 years now. useless mofos.

I workout by myself mainly because I have my own lifting rhythm and intensity level. I probably take double the rest that most guy's in the gym take between sets and exercises. I don't train to failure. I'm not gonna change my workout to fit with someone else.

i do. i have not much choice. nly one of my friends works out and he lives an hour away

I run alot as my workout and I have a better treadmill at home. Go to the gym when I want to, no schedule. Fifteen years of working out it doesnt take much to keep muscle memory and I dont want any more muscle. Easiest to just meet people and work out with people when I do go, more social that way
Have to go to the right gym where everyone is cool and your workout partner when you need one

I like to workout alone usually because I don't need a spot hardly ever. Even so, when I used to workout with people they would just fuck around, not know what to do next, not change the weight back, they basically didn't do shit. So I workout solo now.

It sux, Im sooooo sick of having to buy different clothes, I run, lose muscle and then focus on lifting and all my muscle memory comes back. Im sick of clothes not fitting right.
The days of juicing and getting behemoth have long since past

Pretty much always have. All my good friends are too lazy to workout. I get in and out faster that way too.

I do. Sure, I had some workout partners over the past few years, but now our schedules don't match.
