I am my own God.

Jesus is a mexican who sells oranges near my summer retreat.

I believe in both.

Especially the latter.

more or less this is the same answer i would give.

I believe there is a sentient force, God, if you will that is the source of all creation.

I think Jesus was like Bhuddha, a great teacher whos work had a great deal of zionist material piled on top that clouded his message.

I am Agnostic so I guess I just cant answer, becuase I just dont know.

I was raised Cathlioc, but have moved FAR away from religion. And at this point I am just not sure. But I AM sure about a few things:

I am a good person
I love my wife and family
I am a good father
I am faithful
I am honest
I am trust worthy

Those are the things that I hold dear to my life, not religion.

I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT RELIGION I ACTUALLY DON'T LIKE ORGANIZED RELIGION. THEY MAKE THINGS HARDER AND MAKE PEOPLE FEEL GUILTY THATS NOT THE MESSAGE IN THE BIBLE. THE BIBLE IS THE MESSAGE NOT SOME FATHER IN A BOOTH OR WEARING A CLOTH TODAY ORGANIZED RELIGION FOR THE MOST PART TO ME IS A JOKE I HAVE MY FAITH IN GOD AND I WILL LET HIM TEACH ME NOT RELIGION. CHURCH DOESN'T MEAN GOING SOMEWHERE AND FOLLOWING RULES THAT THEY MADE UP THAT ARE NOT EVEN IN THE BIBLE. JESUS SAID ANYTIME TWO OR MORE PEOPLE ARE SPEAKING OF ME I AM THERE IN THE ROOM I BELIVE THAT IS CHURCH. THATS HOW IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF PAUL AND THE DISCIPLES THEY WOULD HAVE TO HIDE SO IT WOULD BE A SMALL GROUP NOT ORGANIZED AND THEY JUST TAUGHT WHAT JESUS TAUGHT WHAT JESUS TAUGHT THEM, THATS CHURCH. ANYTIME YOU PRAISE GOD.

Good point. The term Agnostic, actually means "no knowledge of gods". So I guess my answer is that I don’t know if I believe in Jesus or God.

I believe that there might be a God, but in MY mind, Jesus and God in Christianity is most likely not him/her/it

Its logical that there is something beyond matter and force.
that is simply scientific. I think Stephen Hawking puts it best:

"Even if there is only one possible unified theory, it is just a set of rules and equations. What is it that breathes fire into the equations and makes a universe for them to describe ? The usual approach of science of constructing a mathematical model cannot answer the questions of why there should be a universe for the model to describe. Why does the universe go to all the bother of existing?"

this is so logical imo. I mean they often refer to science as the proof against religion. sure it fucks the hell out of the ancient scriptures but what the hell did they know about science?

I mean look at the complexity of science. Physics, math, chemistry are all associated and work with other in full compatibility etc.

where did the constants come from... why do the laws apply?

I do think this proves the existence of some higher power.
whether this should be viewed as a persona, or something that can be communicated with, or even something that gives half a damn what we think, is something else.

I think that from a purely logical standpoint the way most monotheistic religions are based is just some form of anthropomophistic (spell check this is not my first language) thinking i dont know the name for.

well duh - if there is something that is too complex for me to explain, then the OBVIOUS answer would be a huge powerful man that is really old, lives in the sky, and knows everything.
any other answer would just be really silly.

I mean some people are so stupid.
Like some are trying to figure out what created the universe - DUH - God did - he created everything. Even the AK-47 - he can appreciate an efficient and inexpensive killing machine just like the rest of us.

so then people ask - then who created God?

That again is SOOOO stupid. God is all powerful, and he never dies, and he is never born - he just is. He created himself, but he will never leave because he is having far too much fun with us, making us run around breaking shit and gernally fucking things up. It was either us or the dolphins, but since we were in his image after all, he went with us and fucked the dolphins over.

ROBERT
I BELIVE THAT SCIENCE HAS PROVEN THINGS THAT GOD HAS DONE I HAVE SEEN DOCUMENTARIES NOW I CAN'T STATE THE NAMES OF THEM AS YOU DID OR SAY WORD FOR WORD LIKE YOU DID BUT SOME SCENTIST DID A SMALL SCALE PARTING OF WATER LIKE DESCRIBED IN THE BIBLE OF THE RED SEA AND IT PROVED THAT AT THE EXACT TIME WITH THE WINDS BEING AT CERTAIN ANGLES AND SPEEDS THAT IT COULD ACTUALLY SPLIT THE WATER IN HALF. I ALSO READ IN AN ARTICLE THAT THERE IS A PLANT LIKE BEFORE I DON'T REMEMBER THE NAME SO YOU GUYS MIGHT TAKE THIS FOR SHIT BUT THIS PLANT SECRITES AN OIL IN ITS LEAF AND IF IT IS HOT ENOUGH OR THE SUN HITS IT THE BUSH CAN BURN AND BURN FOR A WHILE WHEN IT GOES OUT THE LEAVES ARE UNDAMAGED. I THINK GOD USES SCIENCE TO DO HIS MIRACLES I MEAN TO ME HE MADE SCIENCE SO WHY WOULD IT HAVE TO BE UNEXPLAIN ABLE. ALSO SCIENCE HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO PROOVE THAT GOD DOES NOT EXSIST OR HOW WE WERE MADE THEY HAVE THERIOES BASED ON WHAT THEY BELIVED HAPPENED FROM THEIR EXPERIMENTS ( FAITH)

here is a quote that someone smarter than I said, and I find it interesting.

"The more a man is imbued with the ordered regularity of all events the firmer becomes his conviction that there is no room left by the side of this ordered regularity for causes of a different nature. For him neither the rule of human nor the rule of divine will exists as an independent cause of natural events. To be sure, the doctrine of a personal God interfering with natural events could never be refuted, in the real sense, by science, for this doctrine can always take refuge in those domains in which scientific knowledge has not yet been able to set foot.

But I am convinced that such behavior on the part of representatives of religion would not only be unworthy but also fatal. For a doctrine which is to maintain itself not in clear light but only in the dark, will of necessity lose its effect on mankind, with incalculable harm to human progress. In their struggle for the ethical good, teachers of religion must have the stature to give up the doctrine of a personal God, that is, give up that source of fear and hope which in the past placed such vast power in the hands of priests. In their labors they will have to avail themselves of those forces which are capable of cultivating the Good, the True, and the Beautiful in humanity itself. This is, to be sure, a more difficult but an incomparably more worthy task..."

I READ THIS FROM A WISE MAN ALSO. " NO ONE GETS TO THE FATHER BUT THROUGH ME". I AM TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT GUY MEANT IN YOUR QUOTE HAPPY IT ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE HE IS TRYING TO SAY WHO CAN MAN WHO SINS TEACH OTHER MEN NOT TO????

it is Einstein talking about the dangers of belief in a God

as with any quote, it can be misconstrued or taken out of context. this one is related to him being questioned on his standing on God.

SO BECAUSE OF A MAN WHO INVENTED A DEVICE THAT WILL PROBABLY BE THE END OF THE WORLD WE SHOULD TAKE HIS INTELECT TO HEART.
