How many MCDBA are on here? I have a question.

My neighbor is going to go through and get that soon.
Is it hard to learn? It is 4 classes right? He has
some database skills already being exposed to Oracle.
Here in South Florida, Oracle is not that popular. Also, they want you to have about 5+ years experience just to get an interview.
(He has 1.5 years.) SQL 2000 is more popular and he is
hoping that he can get the certs and leverage a job
out of it. (economy sucks right now.)
Any advice?

4 exams is correct. 3 core exams and 1 elective.
I'd be lying if I said there were tons of jobs out there right now for this certification. The developer/.net stuff is what's hot on the Microsoft side at the moment. There's somewhat of a shortage right now.
The MCDBA classes are nothing outrageous. The developer/.net classes are a little more challenging.
I guess employment opps would depend on where you live, though.
