how long is a short cycle?

using fina/prop, what would be the shortest length of time possible that will yield good gains?

Have you read nelson montana's book if not great read. But if you want a short safe cycle check out his book.
 
you could get moderate gains from 6 weeks and good gains from 8. i personally feel its better just to run a full 10 week cycle. if you are going to use gear, you may as well maximize your gains. your htpa gets shut down either way.
 
fina/prop can easily yield good results in 6 weeks time at a decent dosage of each and good plan
 
i'm a strong opposer to the short cycles for a number of reasons:

1) the longer you can maintain your increased mass the greater the likelihood that that muscle will stay. with a short cycle, your body has little time to adapt to the extra mass and so naturally will revert back to where you were before the cycle.

2) even with the fasting acting esters like enanthate, prop, fina, etc, etc, etc,..... i find that 2-4 weeks is the minimal amount of time before seeing results.

now, many have reported awesome gains with short cycles and as all bodies are different, what works for one may not for for another.

personally, wouldn't try them.

in fact, anything less than 10 weeks IMO is a waste.

from personal experience, my body really starts to kick into power mode at week 6 and really doesn't decelarte at all (not even at week 10 . i would continue doing them for 12 weeks accept that my logic and rationale avoid me from doing so.

The problem here is the definition of “good gains”.

If you want the “most gains” then you will get more out of a longer duration cycle as those above have suggested. However, care needs to be taken post cycle in order to keep hold of this large increase in mass.

The idea of the short cycle (as short as 2 weeks), is that you will gain a much more subtle amount of muscle while minimising the negative effects on your lipid profile and natural test production as well as other potential sides like acne and hair loss etc.

i hear what you're saying and i'm very well updated on the studies (the few that were conducted) regarding the effectiveness of short cycles.

now, its true that lipid profile and natural test levels will suffer more from a longer cycle, but lets focus our attention here at strictly at muscle gains and retaining of those gains.

some, as you already know, dont even take any time off. but i'm a strong believer in the 10 week on and 10 week off (at least) program.

so for 10 weeks you hit up your desired cycle. allow 2-3 weeks after last injection to pass before hitting post cycle drugs, then an additional 10 weeks off before hitting your next cycle.

that means that in a year (52 weeks) you can allow yourself 2 mean cycles and ultimately yield better and more permenant gains than say 8 short cycles.

many will still argue and we can go on forever about it. this is still the majority's opinion.
