How long do you think you'll live?

If I die young I think it will be a heart attack, otherwise I'd say 80's. Damn I don't think I want to be an old old man.

I've been studying this lately. I did some meditation a month ago where you are supposed to visualize yourself on your deathbed and ever since I've been interested in lifespan and life expectancy.

I think you're 46 now, not sure, but you'll probably live longer than 80. I recently read that for middle aged people life expectancy is supposed to rise to about 100 within the next 25 years.

So you'll live to be 90-110 in my estimate. That means you'll die sometime in the 2060s. I'm hoping I'll live to see the start of the 22nd century, I'll be 121 years old in 2100.

All in all it is hard to tell. Life expectancy may just go up 5-10 years over the course of the next 50 years, it may go up 50-100, it may go on indefinately if you want it to.

Its going to be weird when being 50 is considered relatively young. Having grey hair will be something you live with most of your life. We'll be a nation of geriatrics.

No, I just forgot your age. I said 46 because I thought you said you were 45 or so around 2004.

No, no. That was Radar. He still is.

I already died LOL

I told you he was just here.

I do not want to pass up 80. I've worked in a retirement home, most of the people there are pretty miserable, though some others were awesome. Either way I'd be pissed off at something, and too frail to get physical about it. Which would totally suck.

Yeah the day that I feel that I can no longer kick ass is the day that I don't want to be near people. I'll just carry a taser on my waist.

If you are still posting on EF when you hit 80, hopefully it will be something more positive. The threads you post are fuckin' depressing dude, no offense. If I was with you I would be taking your shoe laces and belt.

Mine go in cycles. Some days more lighthearted than others.

Much of the research into expanding lifespan is based on this. In fact they call it 'healthspan' instead of lifespan. Nobody wants to live to be 130 but spend every year beyond 80 as an unemployed, sickly cripple.

I wouldn't want to live beyond 80 if I was sick or crippled either. But if I can lead a healthy life at 110 then I'll try that.
