How is the internet speed at your work?

Here is is so slow, which is OK if all you're doing is posting on forums.

I do a lot of that, but a lot of my work also involves using the web for legitimate purposes. However the slow page load times get in the way. It's ridiculous. I think it's the number of firewalls we have. I bet we don't even have a squid proxy or DNS caching, which should be a crime for an organization with a couple thousand people.

What is wrong with people these days?

I work in a 42 storey high rise building and the web is the fastest i have ever used. Laptop at home is 2.8 meg broadband

We just "upgraded" our T-1 line here - still slow as shit - I'm guessing we only have 1 firewall also <50 employees. My cable modem at home blows it out of the water.

I think it has a lot to do with DNS, cos I have done a speed test and gotten 8 Mb down in a little Java Applet.

our entire phone system runs on it. So hell yeah it's fast. We share with other clients in the building, and as a result - we all have lightning unbelievable speed.

It mattered a lot in 1998. But now even home speed is fast, so it's not so fancy anymore.

We have a 1.5Mb/384Kb DSL line for 8 people. It's not bad; no proxy or network cache but it's an idea.
At home I have a very fast cable connection. The fastest result I have gotten so far is 8252 down/1042 kbps up.
