are they a narcotic. could a guy get in anymore trouble if caught with them then say dbol, or some other steriod. what schedule drug are they. i appricate any info.

Well, if you've got a prescrip for the valium, you're safe....other then that, I don't think one or the other is worse to get caught with.......BUT, it would depend too on how much valium you had on you if you got caught....if you had a whole wack of them, then that would cause more trouble..

OOPS! Yes, valium is a narcotic.
Narcotic: 1 a : a drug (as opium) that in moderate doses dulls the senses, relieves pain, and induces profound sleep but in excessive doses causes stupor, coma, or convulsions b : a drug (as marijuana or LSD) subject to restriction similar to that of addictive narcotics whether physiologically addictive and narcotic or not
2 : something that soothes, relieves, or lulls

Diazepam (Valium) is schedule IV in the U.S. Schedule IV substances are legally defined as those which :

have a low potential for abuse relative to the drugs or other substances in Schedule III.
have a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
Abuse of the drug or other substance may lead to limited physical dependence or psychological dependence relative to the drugs or other substances in Schedule III.

I don't think valium is a narcotic. I think a narcotic relieves pain.

opps. I just looked at the definition you posted. On the 2: definition it states "something that soothes, relieves, or lulls", after reading this, I would think that almost anything is a narcotic then, because many foods relieve and soothe me.

depends on what state you live in. in my state, schedule II, III & IV all have the same penalty for possession. your state may be different (possessing AAS is a felony, but valium is a misdemeanor).

Narcotic doesnt mean "opiate". Narcotics are by law anything that is a controlled substance-ie steroids, sedatives, opiates, barbituates, marijuana,cocaine,ect.ect.

i thought narcotic was pain killer. odd that most rec. drugs are/were painkillers. alcohol, opium, cocaine, pcp, benzoates.

i think the de facto definition of 'narcotic' is illegal drug. but the dictionary definition is pain killer.

Here it is a Class C drug like anabolic steriods. Although in the BNF neither of them are listed as controlled drugs, plus they are not subject to controlled drug storage, prescription, etc regulations.

Temazepam(member of same family) is though. Few years back people were shooting these and getting nasty side effects such as deep vein thrombosis.

In some parts of Europe you can get Diazapam over the counter.
