How far do I draw back?

I researched the boards and couldn't find a clear cut answer: How far do I draw the neddle back to check for blood once I have the needle in? I assume I'm doing everything right cause I havent had any problems so far . thanks.

Just a little bit...pull back about 1/5 of a cc...if you are in a vein the blood will show up right away.

right, you don't have to pull back much at all, if your in a vein you'll see the blood real quick. Goodluck always aspirate

The absolute second that you even start to draw back, you 'll see blood if your pin is in a vein!

It's a mather of opinion i guess

i always pull back as much as possible. Maybe i overdo, still to each his own.

Once i drew back (bi-shot) and saw nothing. Then did it again with more force and one drop of blood showed up in the yellow cap (30 gauges are yellow). So i was not in a main vein and it probably meant nothing, but i pulled out and started again. I like a clean job done.
But as said, this was nothing to worry about, i think.

I pull back around 1ml.A friend of mine was pulling back way too far,about 4ml and pulled some kind of gunk from his quad!!!!

Lmfao...dont pull back 1 ML...you can eventually damage tissue this way...the rule is pull back till you see a few bubles of air pop in.. i also noticed that when no air or blood comes out it is not wise to inject into that spot becouse you might be in a nerve ending..this is just my .02 ..one i aspirated...and no air came up....it hurt like a mofo....so i pulled the pin out....about 2 feet of blood gushed out and i got a little painfull lump for a day or so on my delt.. im glad i did not inject there....imo if you pull up and see 1 0r 2 small bubles...your good to go.and you will be=)
