how does prozac compare to xanax?

Naw...Prozac makes ya feel good about life, whether it is or isn't...Xanax just mellows ya out an puts ya to sleep....BUT, you have to be on Prozac a month or so for it to kick in a bit if I remember correctly.

ok....i agree, i've over done the xanax thing these last 2-3 weeks....... i've felt like i've had some withdrawls, maybe this is just a mental thing but i had some serious paranoia bouts these last few days......
manny or ranger, any more info about prozac?
is there a withdrawl effect?
does it take a month 2 kick in?

two totally different drugs.
Xanax is a very addictive benzodiazepine.
Prozac is an older SSRI. If you're goign to go the SSRI route go for one of the newer ones like Lexapro. DON'T do Paxil.
If you're going to go the benzo route go for somethign like Klonipin or Ativan.
Neither of those drugs is the ideal choice for its class.

Prozac is an anti-depressant. I personally think that few people actually need anti-depressants, but what the hell.
Prozac may not be the ideal choice in its class (dont know much about SSRI's, etc.) but Xanax can be ideal for its class. Which Benzo is best depends on half-life and other things.
10mg Valium = 1mg Xanax

out of the anti-depressants i like zoloft... i used prozac didnt like it.. felt too much like a big placebo effect

"if you go on Xanax, dont expect to ever stop" was the reasoning behind my post. You spoke nothing of addiction, only said the previous quote.
As for the situation where someone becomes addicted to Xanax, the addiction can still be beaten, but I've heard that benzo withdrawals after heavy long-term use are worse than heroin wd.

Anyways yes benzos can be beaten but for the most part if you are going to go ON Xanax as a regular prescribed drug either expect to be on it forever or steel yourself for battle when you want to come off.
