How does one have "programs running" while on standby???

My computer always reports it has a "program running" while on standby. Now it says it has two programs running while on standby. I can't figure out what they are. I have no virus program but I do mean to get some kind of "privacy wall" with all the hacking going on.

Any recommendations?

I never have my system on standby (it will actually freeze up some servers) - I assume you have a laptop then?

are you on windows, mac, amiga?

if you are on windows, open up the task manager and look at the processes to see what all is going on there.

Thank you...I used to really be into exploring my computer but tired of the old "format c."

I need my computer for the business so I don't fuck with it.

There is a file called Task Manager on the hard drive. Windows desk top by the way. I have to go the web to open any of the folders? A large number end with ________.class Or was it______.cab?

Looks a little beyond me.

is it a newer windows system? like 2K or xp? if so, right click on the taskbar and then choose the task manager from there (or ctrl-alt-del and then choose it from there if you are in 2k, or it will just come up if you are in xp).

I don't ever use standby, so I'm not really sure.
I use sleep mode on my laptop, but never really standby

I have XP. Task Manager does not come up with a right click however.

I wonder why I went from 1 program running to 2 programs running within the past 2 days? I would imagine there is 1 program running simply because it is in stand by.
