How does a doctor remove a mole

Lao Tzu

First off, im quite sure its not cancerous. i just want it removed as it is in my armpit and the friction is starting to bother me.

secondly, i am generally too cheap to visit a doctor. so i might be my own doctor. an ex-acto knife, isopropyl alcohol, band-aids and some whiskey might be all i need to perform minor surgery. However i am afraid if i cut it off it will bleed endlessly, and that the friction pain will still be there it will just be worse. So what does a doctor normally do in this situation, cut the whole thing out or what and how much does it cost.

go down to the dock and give a rat a quarter to knaw that thing off for you.... (what movie was this?)

ive used exacto to remove small colorless ones before, but you should not do it yourself. if it is dark, pay to have it removed, they will check it(biopsy). go to dermatologist, if you have insureance it should cover if not you may spend 100-150.

i heard removing a mole yourself is one of the worst things you could do. I have a brown one on my leg. been there for 5 years or so. Ive been told if i cut it off it will either come back or turn into something worse.

oh, i did have some stuff scraped off my face, skin cancer (mild).

 i never heard of mild skin cancer being just scraped off, if there is any sign of cancer i heard they do some cutting and deep cutting at that and might even blast you with some chemo. maybe it had a potential of being cancerous so that's why they just scraped it off.

depending on the size of the mole being cut out regulates the price. it can be anywhere from about $150 to $300 from what you are telling me.

i had some blemishes burned off my face using some sort of electronic device by the facial plastic surgeon. it burns/scraps it off. the downside is that he might have to do it again if it comes back, but it won't come back in its original form. that cost me about $100 and he will charge me $50 if he has to do it again, but in your case tell them to cut the fucker out and there is no coming back from that.

I had one on my arm forever then it changed shapes on me. Went to the Doctor I said" this doesn't look good", he said in about 1 second yes. He cut pretty deep and then 4 stiches to close. Biopsy came back A-Okay but I wouldn't fool around with moles.

on surface--they dip a q tip in liquid nitrogen and tap on the spot (singe)

moderate depth--electrocuatary (looks like a tweezers with sparks jumping across.) This method used to be routine, but now they are afraid it will leave a "white" area. It's like auto body feathering of the area, with just the right no of passes and depth being critical.

deeper-- surgery , probably the most practical way with your case, just snip it off.

Injection with lidocaine for anesthesia, epinephrine to vasoconstrict and stop bleeding. Oval incision with sufficient margins for complete clearance of mole, followed with several sutures. Easy.
